Does anyone know of a good car foot pump?

For a while I used an electric pump powered from the cigarette lighter in the car. This worked well but failed suddenly so I went back to a manual one. This was no problem for a while but eventually the poor quality of the pump showed through. Bits of it are starting to bend and it takes ages to put even a couple of psi into a tyre.

I'm quite happy using a manual foot pump but would like to buy a decent one that is going to last and isn't made of something about a strong as aluminium foil.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Get a stand pump for a pushbike, the valve is the same on mountain bikes (not the presta valve).

easy pumping with a decent guage expect to pay £25

I have one of those little compressor jobbies that lives in the boot, but I also have an old foot pump (double cylinder) that I've had for years. It has a gauge on it. Older version of this; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-25996-Double-Cylinder-Foot-Pump/dp/B0001K9RFI
A few weeks ago our next door neighbour was away on holiday & after a few days noticed he had a flat tyre. I got the old foot pump out & spent 20 mins pumping it up..............jeeeez my legs were burning!

New tyres or new wheel rims if there leaking that bad

Hi Dave

Best one from Autoexpress - Michelin double pump £21 - these are now coming with the screw on valve rather than the old valve connector

Cheaper pump, then the Halfords double pump is worth looking at - around £13 - I've got an older version (about 10-15 years) and it still works well

I had the Halfords version of that double cylinder foot pump. Used it a few times successfully until one night when I was checking tyre pressures. Not sure how but as I pressed down, the pump handle moved sideways and got stuck. It now doesn't work. Since then, I've stuck to petrol station forecourts.

Thanks for the replies all. I saw that review too Andy. I was about to go for it until I saw the reviews on Amazon. I think customer reviews have to be taken with a pinch of salt, some negative ones are often a bit pathetic, but out of the 202 reviews of this pump, 121 gave it 1 star.

Think I'll have to keep looking

Thanks

Wow, for that model of Michelin pump ?

What was the main complaint about it ?

Well, think the general consensus is poor build and not liking the screw valve - think I'll stick with my old Halfords one for the time being.

Certainly worth you a look at the new Halfords version - simple and relatively old school design.
