Font smoothing

I have just started using my new iMAC( WAS A WINDOWS USER) and this being my fist time using an iMac then i need some info.When i open photoshop CC i get a panel telling me i need to switch off font smoothing for font sizes 8 and under.Where can i do this as i have been searching for nearly an hour now without much success.i did find a font smoothing tick which i unticked but it didn't specify font size etc and i still get the box warning me when i enter photoshop.any ideas?Thanks..

Here is the box wording i get each time but just can't find where I'm going.---"For the Photoshop UI to display correctly, open System Preferences, click Appearance, and turn off text smoothing for font sizes 8 and smaller". If anyone can find this and lead me to it then it would be great.

Thanks Ken, i had found the Appearance section a little while ago, i unticked the lcd font smoothing at the very bottom but it hasn't made the slightest difference and the box still pops up each time i go to photoshop.Thanks for your help.

What font are you using?
Some fonts cannot be smoothed...

dohhh, i was using the Apple Chancery font there, changed it and the pop up has gone.That has been annoying me for 3 days or so...

Has it changed the font back to default by any chance?

Nope, have now tried a few fonts but nothing working..lol..I will mess with it for a while tonight.Cheers.

Have you tried opening PS first and then opening the pic? Rather than double clicking a pic to open the program.

If i open iPhoto and then open an image in photoshop it doesn't do it.Also if i open in bridge it doesn't do it, just the main photoshop cc page.

Does that mean problem is solved?
Adobe don't seem to think there is a problem, or they are just ignoring it.
There used to be an option for turning smoothing off at a font size of your choosing. They decided to remove that option but still give the notification to do so...

For the moment i just need to go to iphoto to get into my images so i dont get the pop up. I will send Adobe a mail to see what they say about the issue. Thanks for your help.

There's a forum for asking questions about problems.
You get told off if you don't word it properly, or put it in the wrong section.
Once you've braved this obstacle they will tell you the problem is probably of your own making, not with their product, and make fun of you

I'd hazard a guess that their experts are male, just out of school and know it all. They most likely frequent 4chan.
