I am debating whether to get it or not, they seem a bit too big to fit into any bag i am wondering anyone got any real world example of one in action.

Debating this myself have read a lot and was thinking they do look useful but would like more hands on info

Great bit of kit. You do look like an idiot but I think it's worth it, definitely.

Here's a shot I got from after the first dance from a wedding I did late last year.

It is very expensive for what it is though. I paid £40.00 for mine!

Cool, do you have any comparison shots with and without?

I don't unfortunately. Some people say the Stofen diffuser is just as good as the Lightsphere but I like the way it throws light around the place. When I was shooting in the dark (pretty much) it was a life-saver and as opposed to the "natural light" shots I've always loved, I actually liked the "flash" ones better!

Another shot with flash and Lightsphere diffuser.

Do you use cloud or clear dome?

Ordered the cloud version. You get a tutorial DVD (!) and the Lightsphere II in a small brown box. There was a group test review in Practical Photography magazine last year and it came out as the Best Buy (though I think the best product was a ring flash but that costs about £150.00).

It fits my SB-800 fine but not my beast of an SB-900 -- will have to buy a completely new one if I want to use that as my main flash :(

thats cool only have an SB600 so will probably end up with a cloud given what I have read elsewhere that seems the one to have

I picked mine up a bit cheaper at Focus for the record. I've only really used it out once at a wedding but it's in reserve for those indoor places where I can't bounce the light, like exhibition halls the size of the Focus hall ;)

It does raise a laugh or two though.. but that can be very useful at a wedding :)

Still only used it once last year!

which way do you point it? At the ceiling? and the people ?

I have one and IMHO while the price is a bit of a rip off it's as good an on camera single flash diffuser as you're likely to find.

You can either point it straight at the subjects (recommended out of doors)

Bounce it off the ceiling with the dome in place, in which case, as well as spreading the bounce light from the ceiling, it still throws direct light out from that large body for direct fill.

or...

Bounce it off the ceiling with the dome removed (recommended for very high ceilings)

Bloomin' West Midlanders always coming up with the same posts :D

LOL. Soz. We can't both be wrong though. ;)

Anyone interested in speaking ewith a guy who uses a Lightsphere let me know I will give you his number to speak to him. Ian.

We're west midlanders mate... of course we can't. (Not including the whole canon/nikon debate *** :P )

I have the Lightsphere II for most flashguns, they are £25 & 3 postage each to members of TP!
