Yes
what word can't you pronounce?

Nearly everyone I know has a few words that, try as they may, are complete and utter tongue twisters for them.

So, - do you have a word you can't pronounce and if so, what is it?

Mine is Sadowski (make of a bass guitar). I can say it right in my head, but as soon as I try to say it vocally it comes out "skadowski"

millienium

phenominon

canon

sorry i cant really spell either :)

I can't think of any particular ones, some come out differently if I am thinking of one thing and saying another though

necessarily...

just five minutes ago, I corrected someone at work who said pronounciation instead of pronunciation. I thought that was quite funny.

Steve.

Milngavie. It's pronounced Balgay or something like that. I mean, how is a tourist meant to get that?

can i just take this moment to remark on the most annoying mis-pronounciation EVER

when American tourists say SALESBERRY instead of Salisbury

cor i hate that

It's not as bad as how they pronounce Edinburgh. Edinburrow.

I always thought it was pronounced Milguy., but then I'm not a weegie.:)

According to my Wife I have extreme difficulty in saying '"Sorry"

;)

I seem to get the word scheduling wrong every time I use it in front of a new set of people.

Sometimes I say it with the C (SCheduling) and other times without the C (sheduling) and both times I get raised eyebrows if using for the first time. Must differ from region to region :D

Leica... I always thought it was pronounced like Lisa and when someone said to me "mate, what is a Lisa??? Don't you mean Leica?" and I'm like..."Like a what?"

I've always pronounced garage with the second 'a' pronounced as 'i' as in garige. But I've heard others pronounce it as though there was an 'r' after the second 'a' as in gararrge.

Apparantly I cant pronounce a single word in the English language...............I am a yorkshireman:lol:

I can never say "anonymous".

I also find a lot of people say "pacific" instead of "specific".

abominable... as in snowman.

... and Caliban. I remember being worried about tripping over it in The Tempest, when at skool.

An abominable monster indeed.

our American colleagues call our office South Hampton rather than Southampton.

i've got bored of correcting all their email messages now... winds me up ***.

cunnilingus - always a difficult one to get your tongue around.

My Garmin GPS had the South African mapset loaded, and the computer voice had a ball with Afrikaans place/road names. Vanderbijlpark is pronounced roughly as "van *** bale park" but came out as "van *** bijelee park" and Without (white wood) St was tranformed from "wit hote" to "without".
