Hi Everyone, well I'm just following the instructions and saying Hi to everyone :) I'm Paul and fairly new to this photography malarky. Having been told by a girl, half way through 2011, that my old 4mp Ixus was not up to much and that I really should upgrade, followed by feeling really left out when all the cool kids had better cameras, I decided to take the plunge. At first I was quite skeptical about carrying around something that wouldn't fit in my short pocket and that I couldn't just point and click, but as I reviewed web sites and got more interested I found these wonderful things called bridge cameras. They seemed to have all the appropriate knobs and bells on to be considered a proper camera and the Sony DSC-HC100V was getting the best reviewed at the time. SO I plumped for one of those and spend the next 3 months running around S.E. Asia blissfully snapping away at all sorts of things in full auto mode. I remember spending one great day with the aforementioned friend and we took lots of the same shots and compared them afterwards. She had a "proper" grown up camera - which I could now identify and differentiate from mine! Ultimately my little Sony did very well, but once I got hold of my friends equipment, I could simply feel the difference in every aspect of using the machine. Hers was a Canon 550, so having to go one better and finally educated in the finer points of cameras I sold my trusty Sony and bought a 600D, with an 18-135 f/3.5 and a 10-24 f/3.5, whilst being quite amazed that I actually knew why I wanted these lenses. A few weeks later I picked up a stunning 100mm f/2.5 too. So all kitted up and a member of the local camera group in Essex, friends with new people and a new hobby to keep me busy when I should be doing other things. Nice to meet you all

Paul
