foggy4evers 52 2010 Metal

Hmmm Isolation, didn't seem too hard of a subject but didn't get the time I would have liked to go and shoot something new. He is a panoramic from a visit earlier this year to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with my wife looking slightly isolated :D

Nice one Scott, we dont see many pano's in this 52 and this is a good'un.
At first glance, I thought you were referring to the statue as your wife  but on closer look I spotted your good lady sitting in isolation so bang on theme. I like your image, can't really say why, maybe it is simply down to it being different . It gets my , I am sure someone will be along soon that could give more specific critique. Iain

I'm not sure Scott, at this size, this is done justice... Still, your wife looks sort of isolated... so it fits the theme. It's a well put together Pano... not sure about the sky... it seems rather blown most of the way across..

Cheers Iain I'll pass on your compliment to the boss :D

The sky was always going to be a problem as it was crap anyway, I tried a little PP on it but my skills are lacking. I was limited to a small window of opertunity to get the shot without any other people it.

Ah gotcha ;)

Ah gotcha ;)

Just been back to the shots that made up the panoramic to have a rethink and remember the problem now. I picked up a cheap 35-70mm Nikon AF lens as my daughter uses my 18-55 on my back up when we are out. didn't realise until I returned home the apeture blades were sticking(I think) I stopped the lens down to f/11 but when reviewing at home the shots were all over exposed by at least 2 stops. Luckily I shot raw but it left little or no details in the sky to recover. :bang:

I like this image....I think larger it would be much more dramatic and the sky doesn't overly bother me as there is still some drama in it. You certainly wouldn't want to be trying to add a new sky with THAT horizon!!

ps: a quick thanks for the great feedback on my 52!!! I am very humbled that you took the time to go through it all!

Oh ow... having the aperture stick really isn't going to help any... all ok now ?

Nope it's definately sluggish, was only bought as a backup and is usable if I hold the dof preview button as I press the shutter release.

Falling behind a little so it's catch up or fail time. The first is a new shot just for this theme.

Quality..... Nothing says Quality better than this :D

Post from a recent visit to Cadwell Park for the BSB round, these boys and girls were warned about cutting corners and special posts were put up to try and stop them. Didn't quite sink in for this driver.

I'm a bit behind in commenting so will try and catch up soon

I'm on a painfully slow internet connection so can't really go through all of the shots, but there are some great ones on this page!

Speed is very cool, great timing and panning skills (something I've never been able to master!)

I like 'stop', something doesn't quite feel right though, is it every so slightly off-centre? Actually I just looked at it again, and I really can't decide if it is or not. It seems to be off to a different side every time I look at it :bonk: . I like it though!

It all starts unravelling at 'quality' though. The subject is uninspiring, and I don't believe it fits the theme whatsoever :naughty:. Seriously though, it's well lit, and I guess it fits if you're into that sort of thing :D

Chris

I like both quality and post Scott, both on theme, definately quality;).
I think the quality image just needs a tad more light on it, just so as there is a bit more separation between the camera and background, (on my monitor anyway).
Your post image is cracking, I like the colours, composition and lighting. It is a fun image, very sharp too. I would say this is my favourite of the two. Well done on your catch-up. Iain

Totally agree with the quality shot. I love my Nikon even if its a cheaper model. The Post shot is superb. It shouts out POST........ When I thought about the theme that was one thing that came to mind but I didnt see anyone that had hit a post.

Cheers Chris, I cropped Stop with the grid so it should be right but it looks like it could be off or not :D. Not sure what you are getting at with Quality though ;)

Thanks Sue, I started with a D60 and it does produce great shots.

Well it is fathers day so my model couldn't refuse my request to be my Heavy Metal Guitarist so I put Kerrang on and had some fun.

haha love your post shot, great capture, i also like your stop shot, nice and simple and says only one thing...Stop! Not sure about quality though, definitely says Quality on the tin but the lighting doesn't work for me.

Some really good shots there since I last looked in Scott - and sorry for falling so far behind.

I love both your reshoots.
I know nothing about motorsport, but that reshoot for speed looks superb IMHO
Seriously, I'm really really impressed by this.
And the candid shot is a good capture even though I've no idea who Tommy Hill is :$:

Stop : Yep I'm getting the cylon thing here too. A unique take on the theme and a very different shot.

Isolated : It looks good, but really hard to tell much at that size. That's the only problem with putting panos on here.
The old building is beautiful though and that statue certainly draws your eye. Definitely a lot to look at and it took me a while to find your wife - I thought you were referring to the statue as well at first glance and was feeling a bit

Quality : Really, really like this one  (even if it is Nikon :p)
Strangely all that black really works and you've got some nice definition between the camera and the background.

Post : Made me smile
Is he actually still moving with the post attached to the front of the car? Looks like the wheels are still moving!

And finally metal : I like this take on the theme. From what I've seen not many people have gone for this interpretation.
Great movement in her hair which really adds to it. My only niggle is that I'd like to have seen all of her hair in the shot.

Well done with Heavy Metal! Excellent lighting and perfect white BG - did you have to PP this? As Sarah says just a pity about her hair, but I am more interested in how you/she achieved the style - is it lots of gel or a blower? (I assume you didn't hang her upside down...)

Cheers, when post came up I new this shot would be peerfect.

Thanks for the catch up Sarah . The driver with the post managed about 3/4 laps like that before it came off.
I couldn't get all the hair in as my daughter is 5ft 9 and shooting in the room was restrictive with a large fan light in the way.

Just a little pp on the background at the edges, I was using paper with 2 lights and a single light on my daughter. The style was simple, heavy metal music and some head banging and fire of a few shots with the flash stopping the motion.

I've got too far behind again and in my book that's a fail! Thankyou to all who took the time to comment and best of luck for the rest of the year.

I'm out :shake:

Quality, not sure Scott... it's not a canon ... I like it a lot.. the low key of this one works for me.

Post ... there's always one who won't listen... I think he was damn lucky not to trash the car... a good spot and well taken.

Metal, a great interpretation of the them, I understand the issues about the space, but it is a shame about the end of her hair as Sarah said.

Great take on Metal Scott. I thought there would be more of this type to be honest.

Is her hair gelled that way? The pose looks a little static for her to have thrown her head around. Nicely sharp and lovely vibrant colours though.
