foggy4evers 52 2010 Metal

Afraid I am leaning toward the original shot, it just seems to have more 'going on' in it. Not that the other two arent the sort of shots I can only dream of taking ;)

D'ya know what... I actually prefer the composition of your first mechanical shot. If only you'd managed to get the whole of the word 'JAPAN' in focus.

I like the gritty mechanical but clean textures in #3 with the lower contrast on metal on metal, this is a good one Scott

I kinda agree with you both, I prefer the composition of one but it needed all of JAPAN in focus. Had to use the bike and it was a quick clean and struggled to match the composition of the first with the reshoot. I will have another reshoot at some point but for now the bike is in the loft :D

Cheers matey

Good shots for Mechanical Scott. Would make a great triptych for the right magazine or office.

Thanks Paul, used a Triptych for street so can't use it again yet! ;)

Reshoot No.3 for me Scott.

Looks like all the C&C on the earlier shots has been addressed and this really does work.
I like the composition, there's some good detail in it and the DoF is just about spot on for me

Thanks again Sarah!

Was hoping to get some shots of the Dogs playing but the winter has taken it's toll on my garden so it's not in a fit state :D.

My Westie 'Oscar' was booked into the vets for castration , now hold the sympathy.....I have 2 bitches and he was permanantly attached to one of them at all times ;) and ones a German shepherd.

My shot for Play is Oscar who at the moment cannot play and he is not happy as he is pure energy. I also bought some clippers and he now looks more like a lamb , how hard can clipping a Westie be :whistling:

Small video of Oscar when playing viewing for pleasure only

Before it gets suggested here's a B&W version

That's a beautiful portrait. Expression says it all. Glad you chose to shoot this and not the playing with the alsatian (as comical as it sounds :D).

Love the Westie .. he is sooo cute. Still got a twinkle in his eye even after the op !

Aawww, belss the poor soul! His expression is fantastic:D Prefer the b&w version imho:thumbs:

Amazing expression there Scott... Excellent image, the B&W for me too.

It looks like we had similar ideas on this theme, Scott.

Sorry to repeat lots of other comment, but that's a fantastic expression - a really fed-up-looking dog! I can't say I blame him, though - all his fun spoilt. ;) Very well captured - and on this occasion I prefer the colour version, for no particular reason because the b&w is fine, too.

I'm still giggling at the thought of his permanent attachment to your GS.:lol::lol:

I should have thought clipping a high-speed ball (Opps, poor choice of words!)of energy like Oscar was nigh on impossible. ;)

cracking shot  His expression says it all really

Cheers!

Love it! Quality shot, and great expression - I know it all too well as I've had to cone one of my cats recently... they really don't like it!

Thanks Nick, used the old 50mm at 1.8 for this one.

Thanks, he is feeling better now the drugs must have worn off :D

Thank you, he has lost somethings but not his twinkle ;)

Thanks, I though adding the B&W might be a good idea.

Thanks Jean, look forward to seeing yours.

Lovely picture, what a hansome lil chap he is too !!

The B&W wins hands down for me, 'picture perfect'.

That is one saaaad looking doggy :( what will he do with his time now he has lost his mojo? I have to say, watching a dog or cat with a neck funnel thing on attempt to eat is strangely a very fulfilling experience :D

Nice composition and I like that it's close up. Not sure whether I prefer the colour or black and white shot, both are good :D

Thank you! thought I would have a play with my old 50mm 1.8 wide open.

B&W for me Scott. Poor little guy.

Cheers, poor little guy? :D the punishment fitted the crime and he was a repeat offender

B&W for me too Scott.

It's a lovely capture. Great expression on the face.

Fantastic.

Ian.

aww bless him.. certainly giving you 'the look' there isn't he? :D hope he's back playing soon.

Goddammit, so many dogs this week. I know I've said it before, but I'm not a doggy person (childhood trauma). Having said that, this is a cute shot IMHO.

Awwwww  Hello Oscar!!!

He's a real cutie Scott - and look at those big sad eyes.
"What have you done to me Dad?"

I prefer the colour one this week. The colours are very subdued anyway, but that touch of red gives it a really nice lift and  I just like the tones in his coat in the colour version.

Great focus on his eyes - you've really made the most of that expression.
I'm not sure whether it's cropped just a little too tight on the top though . . . you've just lost a little bit of his ear hair off the LHS (although given what he's just lost, a little bit of ear hair is probably the least of his worries )

Very minor niggle though, in what's my favourite of the doggy shots this week

He is back to normal, although he has never been normal:lol:

Thanks Sarah, it was cropped a little as even though I shot at 1.8 the background was still a bit untidy :D

The catchlight in the eye makes it I think. I see so many shots without it and it makes a huge difference...well to me anyway. B&W version works better for me but they're both good. I'm just a sucker for B&W. I don't know whether it's the way the hair is showing on my monitor but is it a little over sharpened?

Scott, the colour version is my fave

Great take on the play theme. You have captured his down trodden mood beautifully and it makes for an super portrait.

Cheers, Rob

ahhh poor b****r, i remember when i had my Luca's nuts away, he looked grumpy for ages and so he should. Still it has to be worth it. Just for the record what does a Westie and German Shepheard cross look like and hows he gonna get up there

loves the shots, colour for me all the way on this shot.

Great shot Scott, got the eye nice and sharp and captures the mood really well.

Think I prefer the B&W, not really sure why, just think its a bit more balanced.

When she's in season she helps him out :naughty: or he take a good run up!

Oh Bless him. He looks so fed up( and some people say dogs dont have facial expressions). Great picture. I like both versions equally.

Thanks Sue, he was back to normal after the drugs wore off.

Cheers Dan.

My take on Chemistry this week is a chemical reaction and there is nothing more simple or striking:D as a Saftey Match. 6fps on the D300 is very useful with a remote shutter release, I could have done another triptych as I had a good sequence but it's too soon after Street so I decided on the single shot.

4427454405_385c1b8531_o.jpg

C&C always welcome!

Cool shot, Scott! You can really see that reaction happening right at the edge of the burn.

That's great, I tried to do this and failed miserably. I couldn't get focus and then always missed the strike point. I suppose the lack of working remote release at the moment didn't help, grrr.

Very, very well done!
