Focus points for Couples etc ?

I shot a Christening at weekend and all went very well, I used the 70-200 2.8L, Nifty Fifty and the 17-85 kit lens.

I always just have the centre focus point active and it did create a problem in a couple of situations, mainly couples and groups, to get round it I focused on one or the other of the people and re-composed - I suppose I could have manual focused ?

What do you do ?

If I'm using AF then exactly the same. I do sometimes pick an offset focus point but it's still never in the right place.

yup. camera set to "one shot" focus on one punter , and hold button half way down, recompose and shoot.
on a canon anyway.

focus on the person closest to you and increase the aperture if you don't want anyone too badly out of focus. Difficult though, in low light without a flash where you'll be shooting wide open probably.

I know but then the focus point is between the heads. LOL ! Glad I am doing it right !
