Yes
I came across this show yesterday due on in early March at the NEC. I've never been before and was wondering, is this the sort of exhibition that would be a good place for a novice to visit ?

Looks ideal with everything under one roof for comparions can be made.

Looks like a really good exhibition, ill be going for sure. Havent been to it before so cant give you any feedback but im a novice and think it will be a great event to attend.

Yep I havent been before but am thinking of going. Would be interested in meeting up with some like minded people on the day if anyone is interested. I am flexable as to which day I can attend.

Went last year and enjoyed it - seems to be aimed more at the pro and semi-pro but still loads of interesting stuff to see for amateurs.

Would meet up at Wetherspoons but a friend and I have booked the Monday off work and are going then instead of Sunday - with only one weekend day I'd assume it'll be mayhem.

Been every year for a number of years and it seems to be getting a bit tired now. There's less and less bargains to be had although there still will be some if you look hard enough.
If you haven't been before I'm sure you'll love it and not know where to go first. Giving it a miss this year though.
Depending on who's doing seminars they can be interesting.

It's worth a visit, dependant on travel distance / costs.

Don't expect any bargains, you might just get lucky but it's unlikely

I think I'm going on a weekday this year, Sunday gets a bit manic.

Been twice and it's great for trying out stuff and seeing new products. Not so great for bargains but great for comparing prices and usually companies will knock a few pound off the price if you can get a better deal elsewhere :)

Some bargains, although it's mainly accessories that have decent discounts - very few massive bargains on the lens and body fronts.

Used stalls (cameraworld + jacobs) are usually rammed and if you want to have a play with the top-end kit it can be a case of queueing to have a touch.

Seminars are excellent - Adobe always have some really versatile speakers who discuss all sorts of topics - plus there are some good lighting tutorials. If you like ogling scantily-clad women then there are a few exhibitors who have them for you to shoot.

Food and drink is expensive within the NEC BTW.

It can also be incredibly warm depending on the weather in March and pad yourself up because some (many) visitors insist on bringing their biggest lenses and sticking them all over in what is already an overcrowded place.

Other than that, it's good :)

If you do nothing else - make sure you sit in on as many presentations/demos as possible. Otherwise it's like going to any street market catering solely for photographers and videographers.

I've been a couple of times and it is well worth visiting. One piece of advice I'd give is that you need to work out what you want to go and see, if you just go there and wander around then you'll definitely miss some "must see's".
I'll be going.

I will be there for sure, just reminded me actually to order my tickets online, get em a few quid cheaper which is always a bonus!

I didn't even know about this show. For £8 plus train ticket it seems like it's worth the short trip from Nottingham. Some of the talks sounds quite good and it would be a chance to look for a new bag.

To anyone who has been before, what are the quieter days to visit and are all the talks on all the days or just the weekend?

Just been looking at the Focus on Imaging website...

"Flash Centre confirms stand talks programme" - looks interesting...

Can't see a way to book the talks - is it just a case of getting there early enough to find a space to sit?

In my experience it is usally a case of turn up at the stand - be prepared to queue if it is a popular product or subject.

I've only ever been to the show on Sundays & found it to be very enjoyable, but so crowded.

Definately worth going if only to see stuff you have never dreamed existed. I have been for the past 4/5 years and nearly took one of these models home. Got my arm around her but couldn't find any gift wrapping . Then I thought the wife wouldn't be to keen
