Hi

Just wondered if anyone been to previous years events, are they a worthwhile day ?

I see there are trade stands - are there any bargins to be had or are they typical high street prices ??

Cheers

Not many bargains about last year Andy, the only ones on the last day were actually people selling printer paper because they didn't want to have to carry it all out again so you could get some 2 for 1 bargains.

The main advantage of it though is that you get all the major suppliers in one place so you can get really hands on with a lot of things in one place at one time.

I bought a rolling case last time and it was great to be able to go round everyhwere and pick the one I wanted and be able to see and feel it which is a major problem with online shopping.

This year I have two missions, one is to look at the available video lights before I come home and buy the one I want anyway! My other mission is to source a reasonably priced wedding album so I can addd it to my pricing without hitting my profit margin. That's more important.

Oh and leave any credit cards at home! ;)

I am on my third year and can heartily recommend it. As stated above great for reduced quality print paper and hands on testing of equipment. It's a real mouth opener when you walk in, Kind of like kid in a sweetshop feeling.

I'll be on the AsukaBook stand on the Monday if anyone wants to come and say hello!

Looks like it's worth a trip down  and must leave credit card at home

Thanks for the reply's

I think most are going Sunday, and meeting up at 12 in the bar.

Nooooooooooooooooo, you must take the credit card. go have fun.

Dont do Sunday its a nightmare.....

Thats whats worrying me the most I might have tooooooo much fun if I take my credit card

Enjoyed my visit last year with Marcel and Jimmy_Lemon. Enough so to take the trip again with them this year!

Use the Search function noob :D Already threads floating about relating to it :)

Bargain-wise I got Manfrotto 190xprob with 804rc2 for £90. It did cost me a lot later on as I bought all these shiny lenses, only 70-200mm f/2.8 IS now left to get! I fear to imagine what would have happened had I had enough time to visit Nikon stand.

I'm going on the Monday. Got a list of things I'm looking for product wise to visit all the stands to check out.

Not sure whether to go or not - the last time I was there I was bored to death, couldn't get near the Nikon stand, bought two warm beers and a sandwich for £15, got heartburn...
Watched Bob-Carlos Clarke put some blue and purple gels on a couple of studio lights and say that was the secret of his success... bought his new book and a couple of posters anyway.

I've never been before, but toying with the idea of going on the Tuesday, just checked the train fare cost, Guildford to NEC £48 !!! then I'll have to pay to park the car at the station all day that's another £9.
I'm still looking for a decent portable light set up, and hope Bowens and Elinchrom have got all their toys there.
My main concern is that Hensel will be there, teasing and tempting me with their luuuvvveeerrrly 1200w/s Lithium battery pack, light as a feather but £3000 a go! Trouble is, I could be soooo tempted if they will do a deal on the day :naughty:

if you go on tuesday, tell me and we can meetup:)

Thinking of going on the Monday as might be slightly less crazy and busy weekend already planned.

I'm hopefull (although it sounds like there might not be any) for a bargin, but also wanting to try out a few lenses that I'm looking at together.

Fingers crossed ;)

I'll be going on the busy Sunday, due to availability; there can be some bargains to be had, I brought an A3 HP printer about three years ago for a huge discount, and then a media storeage device which was clearly priced wrong (the sales agent didn't seem to care). I'm looking to buy a Canon 5D MkII this year....

Treeman? why dont you drive? it's not far.... £8 to park.. at NEC, What's all this train melarky? cost you £30 in petrol.

It's crossed my mind, but you know what, I simply can't be arsed! The thought sitting on the train with a good mag compared to the M25!
I've since found out if I leave later it will only be 48 quid, Should still give me plenty of time to see what I want. :)

so, who's going on tuesday? Anyone fancy a coffee?

I'll be there for a couple of days, got my pass through the post! Won't be there Sunday due to other commitments.

i want to try every lens on the nikon stand i cant afford

Yep I'm going to try all those Canon ones I can only dream of !!!

Might try to persaude father-in-law to take his credit card

Possibly not, I've just realised £48 was for single fare return is £96 !!!! I need to find a cheaper fare

Have a look on ' thetrainline ' website for mega savings. I saved nearly 50% on BR price !!
