Focus on Imaging 2010

I'll be there on wednesday if anyone fancies a cheeky beer and burger...

anyone headed to the SWPP's similar thing in london in a couple weeks? I'm on the lookout for some decent mounts and looking over event printing setups so probably going to hit it up too, unless anyone here's been and thinks its a waste of time?

Use the force Luke.....

Are you a salesman for the show??!!:D

My tickets notification came through the other month, Just waiting for the tickets to be posted to me.

I wouldn't bank on it Daryl!!

I had a bad day yesterday, stupid post xmas holiday blues :(

Damn it just checked trains from down here for the Sunday and to get there for 12 I will have to leave 10.30pm saturday night

Is it worth waiting for FOI before making a major purchase? What are the chances of getting something like a new Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 there for less than the retail value?

Quick bump to remind people about this! Its creeping up again! :D

I've only been to FOI once before and I came home empty handed but I've heard you can pick up some bargains. It really depends what kind of kit you are after. The 24-70mm f2.8 is a very popular and sought after lens so I doubt they'll be giving it away for silly money but you could get some discount.

I'm told it's best to go on the Wednesday and try and buy in the afternoon just before the show closes if you want to get the best bargains.

i completely forgot about books, i'll write that on me list. i think i'll have around £180 to spend so i dont know whether to get one big purchase such as the sony hvl f42am/sony 28mm f2.8 or get loads of small items such as books, gadgets and gizmo's.

Right, I'm going down on the Tuesday and Wednesday. Will be going for work, but if anyone fancies meeting up, please give me a shout. :)

1. Sunday is Spotters day, wear a camera to show that you are a photographer day
2. Monday is I did not come yesterday because that is Spotters day and I am a photographer - bring camera to photograph models
3. Tuesday is I am eyeing up the stands for bargains - what might be cheap when the show closes - bring camera to photograph bargains
4. Wednesday is Haggling day, just watch all the people telling you it would be cheaper for you to give stuff away rather than transport it home - bring wallet to buy bargains, cash goes further & camera to show that you are a photographer.
5. All 4 days Working :bonk:

The bargains are things that have been used to demo such as backgrounds and stands. Very unlikely to get much in the way of camera gear especially anything popular. People like Nikon & Canon have a set of gear that they take and use at all the shows and leave the selling to the dealers. First through the doors have a chance at the freebies such as poster prints.

I fall into group 5

Mike

Ahh, thanks very much. I think I'll just get the 24-70 beforehand if I see one for a reasonable amount then.

No hurry though so maybe I'll see one there if not before.

Just curious, but how come? Took me 2 minutes to do, cost nothing, and its done now :)

I'm going on the last day Wednesday but have not registered yet.
once you register dont you have to pay the £8 upfront......which I will do rather than £10 on the day.
Must say car parking charges are a rip off
Dave

well im definitely going wednesday so i can see what lighting stands there are, also am interested in collapsible backgrounds not to mention a few books and memory cards. i am def interested if anyone wants to meet up.

I've never managed to get to one of these events due to distance and other commitments (this time its's Jury service!) so are there any similar events later in the year and preferably further south?

This is the biggest event you'll come across I imagine, none other as big as this that I know of.
