Focus on Imaging 2010

I registered the day registration opened. I'm definitely going down, and probably for 2 days. Not sure which days to go for though as I am mainly there for business, although I'd be up for a TP meet if I end up going down on the Sunday. Think I'm going to wait to see what talks are on before decided on the day.

the wife just signed my leave pass, I'll be there for the sunday

Guess what, I will actually be attending! No karate tournaments, won't be in the Carribean, so looks like I might just have to use the ticket I just booked and come and see what all the fuss/fun is about on Sunday :D

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

To be honest, it's because I am lazy and can't be bothered Googling the Focus website and looking for where to register.

Also I'm a bloke and Focus is about 6 months away. It'd be too much like planning ahead and blokes don't really do stuff like that.

This is the same for me lol. In most aspects of my life.

take a bus, thats what did last year, im definitely attending the next one i loved when i first went this year and all the bargains to be had. im taking a months wages in advance:nuts:

Haven't registered yet but will shortly...I will have to go for a mid-week day my boy plays football on Sundays.

Probably on the Wednesday if that is the day for bargains!

Just had a look at the web site, lots of togs taking pics of models etc. do people take their own kit along with them? can you try out gear on your own camera body, lenses and flashes etc?

I'd love to get a bit of education on lightroom etc. do they have seminars for that type of thing or just hardware stuff?

Sorry about all the questions just don't know what to expect.

Cheers...Kevin.

Parking is a rip off though..and dont start me off about the subway there!
When we went this year we parked in the carpark for the caravan exhibition which is free (parking is included in the ticket price). They didn't ask for proof of which exhibition we were going to they just asked us and believed what we said.

haven't been before - is this worth a day off for an ameteur

If you enjoy the technical side of photography, the kit, the gadgets etc then you'll enjoy it. It's like walking in to a massive version of Jessops where you can play with everything photography related under the sun. You can also sit in on a few interesting lectures and get to shoot some models under studio lights. It's a cracking day out.

Save up though because you WILL want to spend some money on something.

oh great - more bloody temptation

for the model shoots - do you take your own kit

Very tempting but a long way to travel. I'm driving to the NEC this weekend for the Dive 2009 so if I survive that trip then i'll be registering on Monday.

This year Hassleblad had a model on their stand so that you could try out their very expensive cameras.

The lighting stands just have a model and the lights and you can shoot away for a couple of minutes with your own camera.

I took my camera so that I could have a play with a few lenses that I'd love to be able to afford. Shooting the models was just a bonus.

I found that a bit intimidating, not shooting the model, holding a camera that costs more than I spent on my first house :D

Forget shooting models I tried taking one home

Its the biggest such event in Europe, All the major camera manufactures are there as well as every conceivable bit of photographic equipment some you would never have even known about. I discovered last year a company that made a bit of kit that fits onto a DSLR lens that hold transparent 35mm film slides in so you can retake them digitally.
If you can name it, its there. What I like is you can talk to experts not to some well intentioned shop salesman.

Intending to go one of the weekdays, the Sunday is already booked for something else.

I'm going this year - got to save my pennies for it though because I just know I will end up buying stuff. See you on the Sunday!

b****r me, just came to bump this thread!

Anyone else fancy coming Sunday then? :D

Hope I am not too hungover from my birthday festivities :D

I will be there on the sunday, my 3rd year running .
One of the best days out you can have as a photographer.

Just booked my ticket and Sunday looks favourite to me.

It's worth taking a day off. Go Weds, last day. Lots of discounts on goodies.

.....and far less crowded. you will not get to test and play with much as the ques will be far to long.

Ooh, I was going to go at the weekend but now I may go on the Wednesday.

I've never been before do don't really know what to expect. Do second hand dealers have stalls there too?

Going on either the Tue or Wed, nearer the time we will have to ask the admin staff to start day threads so that people can hook up with people going on the same day

Just start your own thread in Meeting place if you want to plan a meet. But if you go on the Thursday, you might be a little lonely. ;)

Long way for the King of Groove to come. Will check out though. A chance to meet the lovely Dee!!!:love:

Hmm cheapest rail ticket is £36 return!!!
