Focus on Imaging 2008

I pondered the same about taking my camera last year ... so glad I didnt, it would have just been excess baggage.
Remember, if going on the Sunday that it does get incredibly crowded.
Though maybe theres more chance for pointing the camera on the other days.

I'm going for the first time and on the very likely to be crowded Sunday. Plan to be very selective about how many stands I visit otherwise it would do my head in.

Definitely taking the camera to go and try out a couple of lenses before pricing them up with Kerso and also pretty keen to get to the Lee Filters stand having ruptured my cokins recently :gag:

Lastly, want to badger the Nikon stand to find out why they still won't send me the 'pro' magazine given I have two heavenly bodies and even more heavenly lenses and registered them.

i,ll try and remember the witherspoons 1200 on sunday.
i,ll be the harrased looking bloke carrying all the gear and leaflets/brochures my mrs has bought/collected.wearing a "no fear" baseball cap and a grey gooatee. a bit like this,

shes only got about £3000 of kit in mind .eeek

Do you guys think i might pick up a cheap gitzo there? I see they are exhibiting but will they be selling too?

Think i might take my camera as i need the sensor cleaning, didnt take it last year and saw they were doing it on the day for quite cheap

It might be worth emailing them Neil. I've emailed Lee Filters as I see they are exhibiting as well, but I've yet to get a reply. I might call them later on today.

On a separate note, I've heard that the best deals can be had on the last day... any truth in that?

Actually, I was rather disappointed last year at just how many exhibitors werent selling!

I spent ages deciding on a bag at the Lowpro stand ... only to have to go queue amongst the millions on the Jacobs stand!

Well I'll be damned! I just noticed on the canon UK website that they WILL be at Focus this weekend! They're also doing a number of short seminars as well in a variety of subjects. Glad to see them make the effort this year

One of the things that does my head in, is when you get a great show deal, only to be told it's orders only on the day and the goods will be delivered later. Nothing to play with when you get home:(
Some great deals on Manfrotto last year, also picked up some excellent canvas to print on.
Did anyone go a few years back when the Ozzy Osbourne lookalike was walking about??? cooool
Going on Monday and looking foward to it, got a pocket full of pretty green, and the milky bars are on me.
Dean:)

Having only just found out about this and im off work that week think it will be the Monday or possibly tuesday, i think ill take camera to try lenses but no buying as no money.
Hope weather is not too bad then ill go on the wifes virago no trafic worrys and i think free parking for bikes?

yup. canon are there. i.ll be noseying at them. las time i went, james bondish was wondering about with totty. laughed a lot at that.
i,m saving up for the car parking and plastic pasties too. sandwich bag again i think.
it is annoying when you cant take away what you bought. but ive researched my potential purchases very thoroughly tho. if i get a good price, i can wait a day or two for em. specialy as were looking at a potential spend of maybe three thousand.EEEK.
if we dont get the right price , we,ll buy mail order anyway.
it gives us a chance to fondle expensive stuff too.

The parking fee is ridiculous! I'll be there tomorrow.. even considered the bus as I live in North Brum, but as the car is in for the MOT I have to take it for that first and prob won't fancy the peasant carrier ;) That's if the car get's through.. which it should.

So.. anything to definitely check out? And any good parking recommendations?! I really don't like buses :D

Parking is £8, so you are stuck with that. We thought Jacobs had the best Canon equipment prices, 40D's for £449 and a poss £100 caSHBACK!! but prob all sold out by now. This is B stock poss ex demo but with 12 mths guarantee, ask at the counter if you can get near it!!
Take some files on cf cards and Epson will print them if you say you are interested, I got 3 A2's done, but I did buy a 3800 A2 job which is fantastic.

Wekk worth a visit, and Canon have all the toys to play with. The Canon seminars were a bit disappointing though, basically consultants pitching for business.

George

Where were the 40d's for 449 or 349 after cashback?!!?

Just make sure you park in one of the rubble car parks that don't seen to have barriers ;)
