Yes
I keep reading that when taking portrait shots always focus on the eyes, does this mean a specific eye, center of the eyes??
Also whats the min apeture to make sure the face is in focus.
Would apreciate advice thanks

Focus on the nearest eye to you. You don't always want the full face in focus, so use whatever aperture suits the shot. I shoot anywhere from f/1.4 to maybe f/4 for a single person.

It depends on your distance to the subject as much as your f number.

DOF master is a great resource for telling you how much of your subject will be in focus, have a look at the website.

Just did a google search and my browser said it was a dodgy website.

It's safe, everybody uses it. Very useful http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html

Maybe it WAS a safe website, but it could easily have been hacked. According to Google...

Of the 46 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 19 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2012-11-15, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 2012-11-15.

I do "web stuff" as my day job, so I thought I would have a sniff around. I loaded up a sandboxed machine to contain any problems that might occur. Went to the site ignoring the warnings. Then I had a look at the code behind the site. And it does indeed contain suspicious files!

Somewhat hidden in the html (actually it's just tabbed to the right very far) is a bit of javascript that loads an iframe from another website. It then resizes this frame to 1px square and stuffs it into the top corner just to make sure it isn't seen. The site that loads also throws up google warnings.

For the curious here is the Google report on this dodgy website. And Google says the following:
What happened when Google visited this site?
Malicious software includes 3 trojan(s), 1 exploit(s).

There are no contact details on the original site and it looks like it hasn't been updated since around 2006. Which means it's a prime target for attack. I've sent an email to the address associated with the domain name. Hopefully someone will get it. Until then...

Definitely not safe! Do NOT visit this site! :nono:

It's updated with camera models launched in the last few months. I don't know if it's recently been hacked, but I've been using it for years.

Maybe you should let the site owners know of your findings? That site must get many thousands of hits every day.

Yes, I've done what I could. There are no contact details on the site that I could find, so I did a "Whois" lookup on the domain name. But even there the contact details were hidden. However I was able to send an email to a third party that arranges for the domain details to be hidden. It should get forwarded on to the email address which the domain was registered under.

 Good man.

Website is down now for repair due to being hacked so nice work letting them know and thanks as I use this website.

The site is back online and the virus downloader removed. I also noticed that the contact page has an email address on it again. Previously it was removed, I suppose to make it more difficult to contact the owner.

You've done us all a good turn there John. Thanks.

@HoppyUK. Glad to be able to contribute considering the wealth of photography knowledge that I've gained here!

Ooops! I wasn't thinking when I gave the all-clear...

If you visited the site while it had the dodgy code, your browser probably still has a cache of that HTML. So even though the site seems to be clean (I've just tested it in 6 different browsers on a Mac and Windows) your browser is still giving you the tainted code. Sadly, this can still initiate the download from the super-dodgy website.

Google how to clear your browser's cache. Or if you need help, let us know which browser you are using. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, other...
