I've just been on a trip to Iceland, and Halfway through the trip the focus failed on my on my FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS. There's a grinding whirring sound as if the focus motor is running, but not driving anything. It started as an intermittent problem just before I left (so at least I had a couple of old Pentax primes as backup), but now the lens doesn't focus at all, either electronically or manually. I switched the A7rii to manual focus, but no difference.
I've seen some ridiculous prices quoted for repairs, and was wondering if anyone knew of a good and reasonably priced company that repairs Sony lenses in the UK?
I found details on how to strip the lens down (for a successful repair of a focusing issue) on Lensrentals blog https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2015/04/tearing-down-the-sony-24-70-f4-za-oss-vario-tessar/ but I don't feel confident of trying it myself.
Any info on a decent repair shop would be much appreciated.
