Did anyone else see the presentation on the Adobe stand at Focus on Imaging? There was a colour balance disk that was used in front of the camera lens to shoot the first shot to balance the camera.......................... what was it's name?

I had a great time Monday and today, getting a great discount on equipment as the show was closing. How did you do?

I watched the demo on Sunday, can't remember the name of the disc though :(

I remember thinking it was pretty handy though, so I might start taking a shot and adjusting from there.

fools and there money are soon parted so they same b****r I spent £1500. lol

Excuse my ignorance as I was not there...but do you mean a cover that goes over the lens...just when you say disk...?

All i remember is that you can't buy it in the UK you hae to buy it from Germany (UK distributor had a disagreement ??).

Surely there are similar products out there ? or was his one something extra special.

It wasn't "just" a white balance check buy a "full spectrum" or something like that.

I was pretty impressed with his talk very good and something to really think about in the future, calibate everything and then you can get it almost right in camera.

:)

Well done Richard .................... that was the one! The Adobe presenter, (sorry I forgot the name), uses it all the time and gets fantastic results. Reduces his editing time by about 95% or more.

Do you have one of these Richard and if so, does it work that well? Any UK outlets?

CBL FULL COLOUR BALANCE .................... Several outlets on the web - Calumet - Harpers Photographic - Daymen International, but the price varies considerably, so be selective. There are also 3 sizes and it's best to get the large one.

Not quite there yet - !! not realy justified.

Just recalled him bening specific about it being "full spectrum" so serched that.

I would buy one at a drop of a hat and the colour checker, but I need a computer and new camera first !!

The effect was subtle but turned the image from not quite there to PING ! great talk good call Adobe. Now please let me win the copy of CS5 :D oh and the D7000 Nikon were giving away

Glad to be of assistance.

Anyone know the difference betwee this and the expo disk ?

I've used the expodisk - Sits in the bag rarely used!! Easier to shoot a grey card although I really should use it more!

Just ordered off Amazon 110mm £24.95 - £27.70 with first class post, but have seen some silly prices for the same thing. Will be interesting to see results.

It would be interesting if you could post a review after you have had a play with it.

Best wishes, Mark

Srsly????

If correcting colour is 95% of the edit what does he do with the other 5% of the time? Open the file?

These look quite a neat device - but Adobe reps shouldn't really be saying things like that.

I bet he means 95% of his colour correcting :)

Jonathan, he did not actually say it reduced his editing time by about 95%, it was my interpretation of listening to him and seeing what he did with his photographs in his presentation. His colour balance was almost spot on and many of his shots did not need PP other than perhaps cropping. Quite remarkable really and anyway, for the price I'm buying it at, for colour and white balancing, if it doesn't improve my work, I'll sell it on to you to have a try! lol

Nice to meet you on the stand at Focus.

Ah got you. Because otherwise Adobe would be out of business.... :)

How difficult is it to get good white balance? It's no different to sticking a coffee filter over the lens! Or a sheet of white paper. Or get a diffuser lens cap off ebay for a fiver if you must.

And if you're shooting Raw, as surely all the best Adobe users do, it makes no difference anyway

I was there at the talk. Also very impressed with the talk and these products. Already grabbed an xrite display 2 to sort out my monitor and am seriously considering getting at the colorchecker passport too.

Anyone know who that guy was? I was hoping he'd have a blog or website where I can learn some more.

Good Idea Chris..........that would be useful. He could start a thread and continue with his advice.

I would certainly be on the look out for that thread...X-rite gear now ordered...but as a novice with the set up I might try posting a thread with some studio stuff before and some after...both the monitor calibration and colour checker...
