I am planning to go this year.

Anybody else going there?

I am considering which day to go. I am not working on Sunday so that would seem like a good plan. But would it be much more accessible or have much better deals any other day based on previous years experience?
I am planning to maybe bag 100mm macro L if they have a good deal (or 5D mk2 if they have a super deal).

Any free parking spots nearby? I manage it in Bristol, Brum should be doable.

Sunday is full raincoats and Arse heads carrying stupid flaming cameras smacking you in the front, side and back with over sized lens sticking out.

Tuesday or Weds are better.

If you drive up from Bristol what is the problem of parking at NEC and paying the £7/£8 quid. Easier than finding somewhere and trekking in from a distance.

do a car share with some folks on here and share the cost.

Does one assume you WON'T be attending on the Sunday then :D

I usually go on a Tuesday, it was still busy last year, but it was bearable... just.

Also full of people that enjoy photography as a hobby, have no desire to be a professional photographer and work full time Monday to Friday.

We usually go on Wednesday, sometimes theres stuff sold off cheap.

I have always been on a Wednesday and find the crowds not too bad

It strikes me as odd that people visit this show with their kit! Silly willy waving at it's best! I mean can you imagine people visiting the boat show bringing their boats along!

I'm going up wednesday. Less people; no willy wavers; possibility of some bargains; train companies dont use buses like they do on Sunday

The only reason to bring kit is if you were intending to visit a manufacturer's stand to try something with your gear. You'll still look a bit of a knob though...

Why not keep it in a bag then. I have seen photos of these numpties with a 70-200 f2.8 mkII on their 350d dangling from their neck wandering around and they look like right (and left!) tits! I am surprised they haven't sheared off the lens mount!

Unless it was your doppleganger Yvonne and I bumped into last year. :D

Ahhh my evil twin :rules:

Must have been Sunday then in that case (in my defence, I'd been made redundant so weekends/weekdays were all the same at that point :p)

Would explain why I thought it was so busy though ;)

I have only ever been on a Sunday and to be honest I have never found it that busy or annoying. I have been to events MUCH more crowded, there is always room to walk to where you want to go. Then again the lighting stands, where the models tend to be, don't interest me much so don't really hang around them to notice any crowds pushing.

Very little would persuade me to step into the NEC on the Sunday. I've heard that if somebody turns round suddenly you could easily get smacked in the face with a 70 - 200 L....

In fact I'm on Lencarta's stand this year (come say hi!) but due to, err, a prior engagement it will just be the rest of the team on Sunday :)

As for free parking nearby.....best of luck. The paid car parks seem to be up to 5 miles away. Especially if you're carrying, you know, too much kit......

One will be jetting in from afar on the Wednesday :D

think last year i went on a tuesday and didn't seem busy at all, because i know quite a few people working on the stands they all seemed knackered by then. oh, the gossip between the companies is quite funny, (one person from Kata was going around photographing all the latest stuff from Vanguard)

just registered for my ticket. This year i may pop down on sunday for the mass meeting and then probably have a proper look around another day..
i am right that the free pass enables you to go more than once?

sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday? but what month and date is it on? :bonk:

'Willy wavers!' How funny.

The only reason these chaps (never the lass') carry the bod and glass around there neck is to shoot the models that are on the stands... Why???? Because the misses wont let hubby shoot ladies on his own. OR.... they are so tight they wont hire a proper model....

Ah, Sunday.... the heat, the people and rustle of Rain coats rubbing together.....

Dont you just love Stereo typing!

It'll be Tuesday for me again. Didn't seem too bad last year, apart from the embarrasing males jostling for a peek at the models. ( get some dignity guys):shake:

Couldn't find a decent cup of coffee though, any one know the secret?

About the bargains - is that a good reason to go - I mean are there likely to be big savings and on a good range of gear ?
If I went it would mean a very expensive train ride up from Cornwall taking 4-5 hours each way and in many ways it would be much more civilized to go to a dealer and have some time to play but then again it might be a nice day out with the bonus of a few possible bargains..

Not been before, I was thinking Monday but maybe Tuesday or even Wednesday makes more sense.

Must book a day off work :-)

Fingers crossed:(

I'm going ties and weds, just so I can appreciate the seminars instead of rushing between. Plus, want to diss out deals for work. :)
