Focus 2009 - So you went, what did you buy?

I really broke the bank, all the way to Birmingham for a Spudz lens cleaner! then I got one free in the bag from the AP stand!

If anyones there tomorrow I'm a first time focuser so I'll probably look lost, come say hi.
I'm short and will probably be wearing a dangly beanie hat, with glasses and i'll just be carrying my D80 body round with me. I'll also be with a girl who always wears black :P

Ill have to keep an eye out for you, next time im visiting my parents, who live in Spalding ;)

Just got back, decided to pop there on the motorbike as its only 40mins away, went to buy a permajet eco-flow for my newly aquired R2880, they didnt have any there which is a shame but it was about 4pm, so got one coming in the post, should be thursday when i receive it. :)

Anyone know any good printer profile hardware and software?

im after a Epson Pro 7880 A1 K3 ink large format printer .... anyone klnow if the Epson stall has these on show there .. ?

i cant comment on that particular model, but there were quite a few.

Ive been today, my first ever time, really enjoyed it picked up a great deal on a Manfrotto 055xprob at jacobs.

The legs were £99.99, but they were doing the 804rc2 heads for £20 which was a great bargain.

I also could have ended up with a D3x if i were a bit dodgy, asked to have a play with it on the nikon stand, 10 mins later turned round and the guy who gave me it had buggered off to talk to someone else - Very trusting....all them canon things were chained to the tables.

I picked up a 804rc2 at Jacobs for £39 as I've already got the legs. My joystick head can't take the weight anymore. I nearly spent over £700 on a monitor and then sense kicked in.

I went to buy a grip for my 5D but nobody had any left. Also wanted a Rayflash but the only stand wth one was Jacobs and they wanted £175 compared to everyone else quoting £159. I guess the difference is irrelevant if the cheaper priced places have none but it's the principle!
Ended up only bought two batteries and two UV filters.
At least the wife was happy when I got home:)

i didn't go in the end because the friend i was meant to be going with was from london, and her phone got niked on the bus on the way to the train station, so therefore couldn't inform me on what time to meet her and go across to birmingham. so i had no contact from her all day until tonight and didnt fancy wandering around on my own considering it would have been my first time.

bought buggar all......:( but helped convince my friend that a 5D2 was necessary purchase;)

Only bought an Artic Butterfly 724 -Sensor Loupe by visible dust (brilliant bit of kit) and a Sandisk 1V 4GB compact flash card. Had a demo on a Colour Munkie monitor adjustment thingy and was quite impressed, think that may well be next on the list

Would you say the colormunki is better than the spyder3 print?

I bought a small bottle of water for £1.50

I then realised there was a subway outside the hall...d'oh!

And a 3x3 acrylic frame from superframes. It's a white acrylic backing, with 9 slots for photos....at a special price for having a "mark" on it somewhere....i've not found it yet.

I bought a Lensbaby and lens kit and paid over the odds for them.

"on one " 4.5 suite software. £300.(normaly £400.).
two carvery's ,4 teas, two bottles of pop, and a piece of cake. only slightly less than £300.
robbing barstewards.

Aye the food wasnt exactly a bargain was it?

£13.50 for a carvery, i opted for a hotdog and a coffee.

Got a D90 18-105mm kit, with free Nikon bag and a free Domke tog's vest.

£760. Same price has outside of the show, but at least got some useful freebies.

First Focus show i've been - thought it was OK. I'll go again next time no doubt. :-)

Well I went on sunday and i Bought 3 subway meals

and I went today and bought a D300.

TBH, the prices didnt differ much....

I really pushed the boat out, a goody bag with 2 mags (amateur photography and another) spirit level, photo paper ....all for 2 quid :)

i enjoyed it wish, i could of seen more

bought some ilford film, kentmere paper the great 6 1/2"x8 1/2 size

lots of printer photo paper at good prices and harman gave me loads of extra paper free as well.

the photos on that stand by terry O'Neil were superb, the depths and tones really trounces digital

had a chat with the designer from kata a young lass who asked to photgraph me wearing my kata 467 and wanted feedback.

i also found some great books with print your own paper in that you assemble yourself A4 only £2 each, these i think will look real good done right

bought some great little old gadgets from the disabled photo stand [wanted to support them]

tried the 24-70 and new 50mm on the nikon stand but stuck with my 35-70mm for now anyway

didnt take many pics only of some girl, lost in a forest [the cure]

spent zero, had to be the most boring focsu for years, hope it improves next year.

Bought a set of skyports.
Thanks to DiddyDave for the lift.

Was my first Focus as a student, and I obviously didn't buy anything. I wanted to test out the 70-200L and 24-70L lenses and the 50D which I am buying, and I was happy with both :)

Can't wait til next years, hopefully it'll be a bit more fun. I was impressed with OnOne's Plug In Suite, but a bit out of my price range ;)

I got a pop up backdrop and loads of speedlight lighting accessories, spent about £200 with a bit of bartering but wish I had gone on the Wednesday. I know I could of got the price down even more ;)

Hardly any freebies for me ... except for the FREE PARKING ;) Which I doubt you wednesday goers would've got :P

Not a lot.

I did buy a rolling case because my gear has expanded somewhat over the last two years and trying to lug it all around a wedding venue last week was the last straw. It was delivered this morning and I can just about get all my gear in it. (It might stop me buying more!)

Other than that I bought some really nice fine art paper at the end of the show which was an absolute bargain, I reckon I got about £60 for £20. I'll use that all right!

Met DiddyDave which is always a pleasure:wave: and Geordie. And went for dinner with fellow togs from SWPP and set up a whole load of extra training days, Now that's a result

Got home and fell into bed, good day out though, I got info on a load of products I'm interested in so, for me, it was well worth the trip. :)
