Focus 2009 - So you went, what did you buy?

£39.95 on the Jacobs stand... very nice bag with plenty of room for a decent DSLR and up to 4 additional (not major) lenses or 2 longer range lenses..

Thanks for that even more tempted at that price. going tomorrow so will take a look.

cosmix3, if you aren't going there I got mine from Dixons, it works out about £7 more because of the £4.99 for postage, but not bad all the same :)

Product code: 042057

HTH
Dave.

Thanks, will bear that in mind.

My business credit card has been in and out of my wallet 6 times so far tonight, personal cards have been removed and will not be going back in, Debit card can stay 'cause it will just about cover the Toll Road !

I am looking forward to the show though, best make some butties !

Does anyone know if the SWPP had any offers on to sign up with them at the show?

Prices don't sound all that cheap, tbh, wish I was closer, I'd still have liked a wee wander round though :(

Would be interested to know how much you can get a Sigma 10-20 for at the show.

Trixster, they are £314 from the Jacobs stand.

Oh, and just to tell you how good a deal that is at the moment; I went to the Sigma stand to see if they had any offers and found the SRP is now £549....

The guy told me to go grab one off the other vendors as the price was silly!

Silly prices. You can get the sigma 10-20mm for £325 delivered from Warehouse Express currently.

After playing with the D3/D3X and D700 on the Nikon stand I'd have loved to have whipped out the credit card there and then :(

I think I was particularly restrained, I came away with nothing apart from a couple of back issues of Professional Photographer for £2! The price "cuts" weren't particularly amazing anyway, as has already been said.

prices seem stupid in my opinion.

Im planning on buying a few bits when i go on tuesday, but nothing major as it doesn't look like there is much benefit in splashing out.

I picked up a 1D3 at a bargain price. A bit of a moral dilemma ensued during the transaction as she stuck a 1Ds3 in the bag and then filled out all the paperwork and charged me for a 1D3.:naughty:
If she'd stuck it in the bag after doing the paperwork there wouldn't have time for the honesty bug to bite me but the two minutes of form filling allowed it to creep in under the radar :(

Still, £2473 was a damn good price in these times.

Bob

This year it should have been renamed 'Focus on Recession' as there wasn't any special bargains to be had. I went looking for a descent Epson printer as last year they had a couple of bargains on the stand, this year nothing at all.

tbh wasn't impressed this year!

i must congratulate you.

I think it would have took me longer than 2 minutes

I did wonder if you would go home with one :D

I am also most impressed by your honesty, I'd like to think I would be as honest but I really don't know

Going on tuesday and then wednesday maybe as well.

Anyone know the price of a Sigma 70-200 Nikon fit?

I'm going to have to be careful and not play with the D3/D700 otherwise my account balance might be in danger!

Was that on the calumet stand, their price for the 5D mk II was good as well £1999 everywhere else £1785 I think they were charging.

they didn't have any though, said they'd been let down by Canon but if I ordered they'd honor the price with free delivery.

I just stuck my fingers in my ears and walked away, LA LA LA I can't hear you.

I only bought some A3 paper, I needed a new monopod so I subscribed to outdoor Photographer for a year to get the free Slik Pro one.

I suppose that means i'll have to go outside with my camera now :D

i cant wait until tuesday now. i might actually even have a bit of money with me

I'm losing interest in going... Not buying anything, only really bothered about checking out album printers and tbh could do that online, albeit less hands on.

i'd say it's worth going if you're in Birmingham just to see the latest gear and £23,000 printers printing 20 foot panoramics

there weren't many bargains though

I am going to the show with my manageress on tuesday as well..
Realspeed

And if ANYONE knows how much a D300 was there I'd LOVE to know :D

Dell, there was a stand selling a used D300 + grip for £975 but I can't remember what they were called. It was a long stand with a lighting area to the left (model shoots etc) and gear on the right, they had about 4 slim, upright glass cases with some s/h stuff in them.

Hope this helps.

Not been yet!

Going for the day on Wednesday with some mates from SWPP. To be honest there's not much that I need. Some dust aid strips, a video light and a rolling case would be on my shopping list along with some paper.

I'd love a 16-35mm but the credit card is staying at home!

I waw able to pick up a Canon Powershot G10 for £339 (inc 30 cashback). There were stands selling it cheaper at £330 and £299, but these were B stock.

I've got my first real camera! :D

They also had the 450D inc lens kit for £400, B Stock again. The 1000D was £340 inc lens kit, B Stock.

They were amazing, the amount of ink that one of those must use

Me neither! No atmosphere; No buzz. I bought a macro lens....but with hindsight could probably have got it cheaper on line or from Kerso. Tempted by Epson R2800, but in reality have so few images that are worth printing at A3, I'd be better off getting them done by someone on-line. Oh, and I also bought new backboards for my mount cutter.
