I purchased a box full of large self adhsive foam boards from a local sale, i purchased them on the spur of the moment not really knowing what i was going to use them for, but at £3.50 for some 20 sheets at 20" x 30 " i thought i couldn't go wrong, except i have never used any and i'am not quite sure what i would use them for.

Anyone use these before and what would be the norm for usage.

Thanks...

Erm... You could:

Use them as a sledge

Cut amusing animal shapes out of them and use them with paint, not dissimilar to potato prints

Build a wall around your house, to protect you from ze Germans

I dunno... What were you hoping to use them for?

just the sort of reply one expects from time to time. maybe we should have a thread or subject for comedians...

Need white background to shoot stock photos? Or still life?

lol I did buy some for mounting pics on and they were bleeding awful!

All cut wrong and once you get a print on them it's impossible to get them off.

I have 18 of the blasted things in the corner of my office, must take them to a car boot! ;)

Got to wondering if this might be what i was going to do... spur of the moment thing, just pays to think first.

anyway thanks........

they are used a lot in the sign industry for vinyl lettering signs.
The thicker stuff is pretty good

I help run an archive for my village and we got a load of old photos printed and mounted on foam board a while ago, makes the prints stand out from the display boards when we had an exhibition...but these were done by the company that did the printing do didn't have the trouble of trying myself.

I built a Light-Tent (okay - box) with a few sheets of the foamboard, and a couple of bits of tracing paper...

On one job for a company who wanted shots for their online catalogue/shopping cart, we got through 200+ bits in a day, and I kept the shooting in-house instead of having to hire one of you professionals  Certainly paid for the massive expenditure of around £15 including the lights.
