Hi Everyone
Going to Florence for a few days, and while I have happily snapped away on beach holidays this will be very different
I have a Canon Eos 350D with 18-55 lens & 70 -300 Sigma. My question is Should I invest in a proper flashgun before trip & anything else- if so what? any other help appreciated. Budget is restricted

Thank You

How long before you go? If you buy unfamiliar gear you need to practice with it first imo.

Have you got a tripod?

A flashgun is very useful, but what are you shooting?

If your shooting people then it will help because your close enough for the flash to work.

If your shooting landscapes, architecture etc. then the subject is either too big or too far away for the flash to be effective.

A Yongnuon flash will not set you back much and is more than adequate.

As you have a tripod, I would maybe consider some filters to give you some creativity options - A 10 stop filter on a long exposure in a busy square, can mean that with the movement of people the sqaure can look almost empty, which would give a different look on some of the tourist locations.
