Yes
just considering getting one of these type plug ins for CC, but wanted to find out if there were any other alternatives?

Also, your opinions of ease of use, flexibility, whether you think they're good value etc...

thanks!

I can't believe no one has an opinion!!!! LOL!

Come on chaps! ;)

I don't remember seeing a portraitpizazz action on the site, have you got a link to it?

Which Florabella ones are you looking at? most of her actions are fairly strong and they normally always seem to need tweaking.
I haven't heard of the portraitpizazz one?

these are the phenomactions in portrait pizacc http://www.portraitpizzaz.com/phacco.html

I'm just looking for something that'll just give a slightly different look to some images, and although I use CC, my skills aren't good enough to work out how and what or to create my own actions yet.

Tracy, I was looking at Muse and /or colour & light, do you use these?

I have both sets and tend to use the colour & light ones more, I can show you some examples if you like?
Im going to take a look at the other ones you mentioned, thanks for the link :)

Ive trialed totallyrad, paint the moon and florrabella but for me the best ones by far are by lilyblue (y)

The thing with a lot of these actions is they are aimed at a particular 'style' of image, they just don't work on a lot of other images. Just out of couriousity I tried out the Muse actions on one of my favorite recent images and it just looked like the colour balance was off. Ok the image wasn't like the ones on their site but you get my drift.

yes, I did wonder about that Wayne.

Michael, why do you prefer Lillyblue above the others? Having had a quick look, they all seem to be 'much of a muchness' if you know what I mean.

I have wondered about using actions and have looked at the Floraballa sets as well as others.

What i'm not sure is how much would a client want a photo that is'nt natural and possible looking too edited?

Do photos that have had actions added sell? It does seem to be something that you see a lot in american photography.

Then the next question comes is, how do you present them to the client, do you take the lead and apply actions to photos for the client or do you leave them as you would and then offer adding the effect to them? how do you advertise this.

I suppose it depends a bit on the action (and the customer) but for special effects odd colurs etc I'd say they don't sell that well. We tend to put one or two 'clever' pics in the album selection, but they'll be things like a multi exposure or fancy lighting effect, or maybe a sepia, what doesn't seem to work for us are odd colours, the pinks and yellows of some actions. People just think the colours off or something.
