I have a project in a dance studio, where I'm going to be using overhead lights. It will be a form of time-lapse movement shot. I'm concerned about the wooden floor, which is light and likely to reflect/build exposure.

The 'portable dance floors' (roll out) that I've looked at seem very expensive. So I'm wondering if I might get away with black background vinyl, or even 'lino'. Are the vinyl backgrounds robust enough to withstand movement (stepping, and rotating - but not jumping), if they were taped down?

It depends upon the Vinyl background --- I believe the most robust to be the one that LuxS have. But you will need fairy heavy duty stands to carry the weight ...

Check with your dancer/s too - they may have to rethink their footwear if you change the flooring. Not so much a problem if stepping but possibly an issue if there is any spinning/pivoting involved. (I have 14 pairs of dance shoes and usually carry at least 3 as it depends on the flooring which I'll use).
