Floodlight settings

Can I pick some brains (or even Brians!!).

What settings metering wise do people use under floodlights, particularly crappy non-league ones!

Using back button focus, and metering when shutter pressed.

Ive set up my 1D MkIV to auto ISO and limiting shutter speed and was shooting with Auto WB, although I realise I probably should be taking a custom WB from somewhere neutral?

What am I missing?

everyhting... forget ALL of the above.. (apart from BBF which is always good)

Its floodlights which means you ahve a constant light.. so you dont need auto iso.... open your lens to 2.8 .. set your iso to the hisghest you can go... whats left is your shutter speed to get a good exposure.. once you ahve it.. lock it all in (manual) and off you go.. the worse thing you can do is use auto iso or any other semi auto mode under floodlights.. too many bright lights can fool the camera..

oh and AWB usualy works OK

LOL.......still got a lot to learn.
Results have been ok so far.
Ive only used up to 12,600 ISO. How usable is the expanded?
Noise reduction disabled. Is it worth having it on the lowest setting?
I was shooting with auto ISO as the light varies so much from the centre to the wings (where it was bloody rubbish).
Ive been shooting M and with lens at F2.8, didn't make that obvious in the post.
Do you normally use spot or centre weighted metering?

You dont use metering in manual mode... but if using then never spot.. anything but spot..

1dmkIV I dont think I ever bothered over 12800.. is that what you meant?

noise reduction was never changed on mine.. so whatever factory setting was

Try to shoot the action in the brightest part of the pitch - avoid the edges and corners which are usually like coal holes.
