i have set up a flickr to see what all the fuss is about :shrug:


are you all in groups or is it just you look for people..

i have no idea what so ever ..

anyone know how to get the best from it .. in easy steps :naughty:

There is the Talk Photography Flickr ground here - http://www.flickr.com/groups/talkphotography/ - which has a fair few familiar faces in it ;)

I tend to use groups on flickr as a way of finding finding/sharing specific shots, there is pretty much a group for all sorts of photography, for example my sunset shots I tend to put in - http://www.flickr.com/groups/sunrisesunset/ - that group and likewise if am trying to think of some ideas for sunsets I will take a look through the groups "pool" to see what other people are doing.

There are a few good general groups such as:
Flickritis - http://www.flickr.com/groups/flickritis/
Flickr Addicts - http://www.flickr.com/groups/flickraddicts/
Flickr Central - http://www.flickr.com/groups/central/
 
I would say also take a look in the groups that relate to equipment you have or equipment you are looking to buy, as well as groups related to where you live and types of photography you like. For me the strobist group is my most visited one.
 
The groups are a great source of information & help and attract a lot of like-minded individuals. There are a lot of film & camera specific groups which is the main reason I joined.

The downside to Flickr is that you have to wade through a lot of crap to see the good stuff.
 
I have a DeviantArt page is there any big differance between Flicker and Deviant Art?

But there are a number of groups on there where, although the posting on threads is almost non existent, photos are still regularly added so it's still a good way to get comments on your photos and to see other people's.
 
ok say i have a picture of a tiger i want to get seen by alot of people for comments ..how do i go about this..:shrug:


i have found pictures of tigers but dont know how to add to a section..

1st you need to search for a relevant group and join it. Then when you click on the picture in you photostream, you will see options above, one of which is Send to Group. Select the relevant group and Canonbob's your uncle!:D
