would you recommend me using flickr and what dose it do thanks

cheap/free storage. The opportunity to get comments like "nice shot" and invited to "post one-comment-on-ten" groups....

I've been using Flikr for years now. The free version. Never bothered me that I could "only" upload 200 photies max.

It's quick easy and works.

There's even a downloadable app that pushes photos to Flikr for you

I never tag anything, surf the groups, comment on stuff, just use it as an online photo store.

yep I recomend it, for just storing photos (that you dont mind other people seeing, unless you tag em as private)

A cheap form of advertising.

I've got 3 offers of work via mine worth a few K.

Having only recently started uploading to Flickr, I think its really good. Lets me share photos with friends, post them on forums such as this one. Posting to groups gets your photos some exposure, and in my experience people only comment if they want to.

I despise of the "post 1 comment on 10" and the rate type groups, people are just commenting for the sake of it...:cuckoo:

I'm going off flickr. You've really got to be active in the groups to get the best out of it. I'm not and so I don't get a great deal out of it, apart from the odd "great shot" comment from time to time.

As I said in a comment in another thread, I've only been using it as a gallery for friends/family but now I've got my own web site, I might as well point them there.

Must give it a try!

Yep, I love flickr, just wondering whether it's worth $25 to get the pro account.

For me, it's worth it just for the stats function alone, not that I get a huge number of hits, but I just find it interesting to see what people are looking at and how thay found my photos. Afterall, it works out less than £2 a month.

If your ISP is BTInternet you get a free Pro account, although it's not widely advertised.

I use it and think it is reasonably good with quite friendly groups. The best thing though is the ability to set up a private group that I upload family photo's to. The only people who can see them are people I invite so family members can see up to date photo's without having to email them to everyone.

Other than that it is a good free storage, particularly if your ISP is BT as you get a free pro account:thumbs:

Only just started using Flickr but I love it :)

Me too ! I like to wander thru the thousands of photos of the things i'm interested in, and if i get a comment on my image then great,if i don't then at least i've got storage (although i only upload jpgs @72ppi ) and my friends and family can view my latest efforts. I recommend that you give it a try.

And if you wanted to you could set up a Talk Photography site there for any TPer who wanted to upload and chat...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................on second thoughts cancel that comment before the Lemon squad make a hit on me!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:

I like the remote storage idea, not so keen on the random comments but hey ho, such is life.

You can switch off comments, if you prefer not to receive them or limit them to specific groups of people.

Pro is free if you have a btinternet acount, as I found out today :)

Even if you pay, it is worth it. I just renewed a week back. I love Flickr. The randoms you can block and anyone that puts a glittery image in the comments gets blocked... It's great that you have that level of control.
