Flickr Members: looked at Stats?

I was looking around Flickr this evening and discovered the Stats page, about 3hrs later I came away from it...amazed, surprised and slightly amused.

The level of detail they go into is absolutely staggering. For example, I discovered that a photo of my old bedroom appears on some french blog (no, really, about half way down, B&W pic of controller). I also always wondered why a few particular -average- photos were so popular, and now I know they are very high up in Yahoo Image search (Ford GT and Bugatti Veyron)

What was most suprising, however, was how my pics turn up in completely random places all over the web. In Japan, for example, they seem to be quite interested in the Renault Clio V6, I just so happen to have quite a few photos of them, so they show up all over the place. The best one was a Dad who was looking for a good image of Colin McRae driving to make into a poster for his son's bedroom, a few posts down and a couple of my images appear as suggestions, very odd.

I know what you mean. I discovered that a guy has used one of my pics on his blog, totally random, I always wondered why a picture of a garden trowel was so popular.

The stats are fantastic. I discovered that a picture of me wearing my kilt was on a site gallery for promoting kilt wearing among men. It does provide a fair amount of time of interesting reading, especially the referrers section. It's a great tool to see what the most popular types of images are in your gallery.

also helps to keep a track on your images (people do use them without asking etc)

I signed up for stats a couple of days ago, I've not looked at it properly yet but I have noticed that a few of my more popular photos have got quite a lot of hits from image searches on google and yahoo.

They really do give you a lot of detail!
