that is exactly what I used it for, image hosting for sharing on here, so i will try photobucket,
...
why? because I don't care to be part of that community
I think you've hit the nail on the head here. Your choice and I'm not going to disagree with you about that.
this makes life so much easier because if i upload say 5 photos I don't need to click on each one to get each piece of code
flickr take note!
Yep. Flickr is not and has never been Photobucket.
While they have changed the language since, the T&C's back a few years ago when I first joined used to say “Flickr ... is not a generic image hosting service". I took them at their word.
I have my own web site, running on my own hardware and bandwidth, for image hosting and other stuff that I like to do, like mucking about with databases and PHP. That way, I only really have to comply with my own T&Cs and nobody else's.
So, I use Flickr primarily to share my photos with other people on Flickr and only occasionally post the images from there elsewhere, because what I post on Flickr sometimes has a different flavour to what I post in my own galleries. Consequently, I'm quite happy to post links back to my Flickr page. Indeed, I welcome the changes that have made that a
lot easier.*
As Alastair said, it looks like Photobucket might be the right tool for you.
* actually, I often find it frustrating when people have posted photos without a link back to their Flickr account, because I'll want to go off and take a look at other things they've done, see a larger version, maybe make a comment or Favourite it, and can't.
