Flickr..Camera Roll

I've been following the thread about Flickr adding tags autonomously today. This started me looking at my Flickr account a little closer. I had not looked at ' Camera Roll ' until tonight, noticing that on the flickr title page it had me down as 311 photos, much higher than I thought. Camera Roll has images on it that I have never, and would never post to Flickr. Have I naively given Flickr permission to do this by not reading the small print? Fortunately it gave me the option to delete them all. Can someone explain to me how this happens?

Auto upload from your phone or tablet?

If they are auto uploaded from your phone they won't be visible to anybody but you unless you change the settings so no need to worry. Look at it as a free backup.
