No
i've just started a flickr pro account and put up some efforts, but can't decide what file sizew is best for upload - i know the site automatically converts them into different sizes, but some people have said it doesn't do a very good job

anyway i decided for the sets i put up to reduce to 1024x768 - they seem to look ok though obviously not with the fine quality (in a literal sense!) as the originals

anyone got any comments on the ideal file size?

cheers

I upload all my pictures to flicker at 1200 on the longest edge now. Mostly because it takes too long to upload originals

The quality is good enough to view on a computer/laptop screen :)

Don't know if there is an ideal, but I generally upload at the size of the image in my main photostream preview page, that way there is no resizing.

I was one of the ones that used to get horrible results when Flickr resized them for me.

I just upload full size, that way you have an extra layer of back up if everything else fails or even if you just need to grap a full res file when you're away from your main computer.

When I played with different sizes I decided upon 1024 pixels on the longest side though I can't remember what it was doing to bigger files that made me use 1024. This size seems to be echoed by a lot of people when the topic comes up.

As flickr is unlimited for upload on pro I just upload the original and flickr takes care of all the resizing, although they make a poor job of it as they add sharpening artefacts which are quite aggressive for the default preview size.
