Flickr arghhhhh!

How do you know? A lot of us like the changes they've been making, maybe we're the silent majority. People notice those pathetic blacked out "no" whines on Flickr don't they. Those of us that like it, don't feel the need to fill other people's feed with ridiculous all black uploads.

Incredibly silent.

That looks like an American red tail Buzzard!
is it?
it looks in very good condition so I reckon its a captive. ;) where did you capture the shot Robin?

....No it's an English Common Buzzard and wild. Photographed in coastal West Dorset. Plumage varies a lot in this species and a friend of mine who is a bird of prey expert thinks it is a one year old. They are fairly abundant here and there is plenty of prey for them to thrive on and the habitat is ideal for them.

The solution is so very simple. If you don't like, close your account. Easy.

Sadly, many are. Seeing old friends leave I've known for a long time. But hey, you just keep on kissing Yahoo's rear and don't worry your silly little head about it.

So we have differing opinions which means you have personally insult me to make a point. Impressive!

I can't work out how to view images at full resolution now. Have they got rid of that option? You used to just right click and select the sizes to view at.

I opted out of this new crappy Flickr.. It's sh1t.

I like the new flickr. Nice an fresh. A good modern feel. Seems easy enough to use after the initial figuring out where things are.

the image scales to the size of the window which is fine so long as they kept the other viewing size options. Kind of annoying but i still like the new version :) Go back 2 years to how bad it originally was!

*edit* looking at their forums it seems that you have to download someones image now to see it at full size

*edit*edit* ahh, you have to go into the download option, then you get an all sizes option, then you get the image loaded up in the old flickr sizes window, then you can select original size :nuts:nuts:

From not using Flickr as much before, I quite like the new layout when viewing photos, i could never find how to exit the "enlarged" view and get back to the set before

Just click on the X top right of the enlarged image Kyle

Les ;)

Actually, just realised a massive inconvenience with Flickr, why are they ending support with FB/Google account and forcing me into making a Yahoo Account?! another login/pw to remember :mad:
its not like once i will start using the yahoo account all of a sudden, it will be used to solely gain access to Flickr and nothing else, so they have pretty much wasted resources giving me a yahoo account

Just think how many more adverts they'll be able to throw at you! Oh joy ;)

That's cumbersome!! Still.. option is stll there though... good :)

This business of it trying to scale to your screen (I think) seems to do awful things to small or portrait formats.
While the basic changes in layout don't bother me too much it really is even more of a mess to navigate around and seems to be some technical problems too.

Where did they get the idea of Enter = Post when you add a comment?
Even though it does say it does it in hard to read faint white on black, I do an Enter to make a new line without thinking - but bam it posts it.

Cheers for the reply. our northern Buzzards tend to be a lot darker than that, maybe its the lack of sunlight up here.

My Flikr hasnt changed at all. Maybe they are updating the interface in stages.

I was quite shocked and dismayed at the new format, but have become used to it. I can do much of what I could before. I hate that they don't seem to take any notice of feedback, but honestly, it is way too much hassle for me to change now.

What feedback did you give them?

Not me personally. But the vast majority of top-ranked feedback was against the latest changes, yet the beta became the only option without any modification that I noticed. I only switched to the new view when they forced me to. As I said, I'm rapidly becoming used to it.

How to you know the vast majority of top-ranked feedback was against the changes? Come to think of it, what does "top-ranked" mean, how do you rank feedback?

Not me. Ranked by user votes.

To be fair, many of those comments are pretty general, and perhaps written out of frustration that it took some effort to find out how to do things in the new photo page interface.

(I have tried 500px as an alternative but just can't get on with that at all.)

....Facebook does that too - It's very frustrating if you want to paragraph what you have to say (making it easier to read and digest).

However, I recently discovered by accident that if you hold Shift and then Return, it forms a new line. Do it twice to create a paragraph space.

But you shouldn't have to. When typing (other than perhaps in a single-line field), "enter" should always be a carriage return. It's just dumb to have it any other way, in my view.

I didn't mean how were they ranked by you personally

TBH, those in the link are mainly rants and aren't very constructive. If I was collating feedback, I'd ignore those too.

If I could find one single example of where feedback resulted in a change to the new interface, I'd be less inclined to criticize their methodology.

As I continue to use the new interface, I am liking it more. There is now nothing I that I can't do, but could do previously (that I can think of, anyway).

I don't like that there are buttons to Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. That's because I am old and crusty and would never use those things.

Testing BBCode pasting from Flickr. Seems OK, but my preferred size won't "stick". Keeps switching back to a default size.

Yeah, Flickr and Yahoo would be much more successful if only the pesky customers would go away and stop bothering the management!

But I mostly agree with you, actually. The rants aren't helpful, other than as a gauge of general, stubborn resistance to change amongst some users. But I'd also say that customer-facing businesses (which is all of them?) ignore the emotions of their customers at their peril.
