Hi all,

I need some help here. I thought I understood re-sizing pictures.

I adjusted some pics in PSP X2, making the longest side 800 pixels and made sue that the aspect ratio was locked.

Ok so far,

saved the file, opened it to check,

ok so far,

Uploaded to flickr, then went to post on here. found the photo and cliked to see origional size. This brings up a screen where you can see varios size images, including the orgional. Eg thumbnail, small, medium, large, extra large and origional. under each it gives you the size.

Why then, when I uploaded the imaged, its longest side was 800 pixels and flickr is showing the origional file as far more?!? Am I missing something here?

None of the size options even have 800 pixels as one of the size options.:bang:

Usually I upload the normal unchanged size to flickr and pick the image out of the range flickr offers that fits forum rules. I realised in doing this the EXIF data is lost. hence me trying the new process.

Any ideas/help is very much appreciated. I am baffled. This happens on all the images I resize and upload. I am sure its probably me but it woud be good to know what I am doing wrong!!! :bonk:

I use the flickr uplaoder to resize the pics to 800 pixels seems to work, you just set in in preferences on the up loader.

is that the software that you can download?

At the moment I only use the basic ulpoader tool on the web page.

Ill take a look tonight, thanks.

Not sure, but could it have anything to do with resolution settings?

Nope, pixels are pixels regardless of image res. And I just tested that on flickr in case flickr was doing something odd.

Hmm, sure i have better things to do whilst eating my lunch

So is it me? I would imagine it is.....

PS thanks 68lbs for helping on your lunch break:thumbs:

I do much as you describe. I resize the images to 800 pixels and store them in a separate folder for flickr uploads. When in flickr, I use the "Update Photos and Videos" from the "You" drop down. flickr stores the image. When I upload. flickr says the size of the Original is 800 x yyy. It works for me and should for you.
