Well i've just set up my Flickr account, so i think now's a good time for everyone to post a link to there's :D

It's the first time i've used Flickr, and must say that i'm VERY impressed by the way they've implemented it all.

mine - which just has a small random selection of my shots.

I don't bother with flickr much.
 
I have a flickr account, but am undecided as to whether or not to start using it.

I wont be uploading full size shots like some people do...

My max version will be 700pix, that would go under the 'large' size wouldnt it. and the standard flickr sizes would be created from that?
 
Added Matt, HUN, petemc and Hoodi to my contacts :thumbs: (Hope you dont mind).

May aswell start using it.....Can't afford a pro account yet though.
 
I take it you guys would recommend Flickr then?

Reason I ask is that I have only ever used myspace within MSN, but recently got broadband which now means I can have my own web-space and create a web-site (how much space not sure (with talktalk)) so was thinking about doing that but haven't got any web development skills what so ever. However on seeing your links above for flikr think this may be a better alternative.

What do you think?
 
I'd like to ask, why are some people's URL's ending in their name?

(Like yours Torpedo / sypix), yet some end in 3503769384763@NOO or whatever.

It's not because they're pro, non pro either, I've seen non pro's with their names as URL's?

You can setup your own URL, i just haven't done mine yet :)
 
I started an account with Flickr last summer in beta, but didn't see it going anywhere. I guessed that trend wrong! I didn't take my account anywhere after that. I blog now. But I still go browse at Flickr, it has gotten so huge.

hate the layout etc so i am now in the process of building my own site :D

Flickr is all about sharing photos and for that is fantastic :) I have my portfolio site as well, and a blog, but i want more people to see my photos than just a select few, so Flickr should be good for that!

Agreed. Its also great for finding others with similar interests.

yes about sharing photo's just like any other gallery.
but why are there others if flickr will do the job??
 
Its not about doing the job. Its about joining a large community. Sure TP is great, but Flickr has a HUGE number of people on it. The fact that you can make a mini community based on anything from car photos taken with a nokia to HDR shots from 1 raw file is great.

Well I've added everyone on here that left links to their flickr profiles (I think).
A few have added me in return, cheers :thumbs:

I started uploading last week and have hit my monthly limit.
I'm sorely tempted to go pro, and using it as my base for my sharing of photos. (Forums etc), also to get me spread about a bit. I do understand that on flickr I'll merely be a drop in'th ocean but it's all about the numbers game.

I think I will use flickr for sharing and forums (max image size will be 700px), and I will use my personal domain for a more professional portfolio :D
I'll also use my gallery space on here for this site.

Like I say there is now a TalkPhotography flickr group as mentioned above, which I intend to start posting too aswell. So if anyone would like to join it, feel free.
When I set it up I chose to let anyone join, just that the admin has to approve the request to join first....I don't know how to turn that off...any ideas?
 
Well I went pro in the end (about 2 days after my last post to this thread...lol)

So as per the discussion on IRC talking about Flickr, consider this thread bumped :)

I have a free account but when I tried to 'go pro' the transaction was rejected and my bank pnoned me to say Yahoo! is a 'suspicious' vendor as card numbers have been compromised on their site. Juat wondered if anyone else has had thi trouble.
 
I have a flickr account......currently only used to share travel photos. I'll be setting up a section of 'gallery' shots very soon as will have more time having finished the OU course this week.

Neos - my bank called me to check it was a valid transaction too, so must be a reasonably common problem!
 
Just deleted all the shots from my flickr as i am going to start again.

I used it as a general 'dumping-ground' for all my pics so the rest of the family can see them, but i have set another one up for that, so the only ones that wil be on my account will be the good stuff (Well, good for me at any rate :D)
