Flexible tripod at ALDI

You'll get what you pay for with this one.

Yea, I wouldn't trust it with a DSLR, maybe a compact, but that's the limit...

I bought one and its not bad. Seams are a bit sharp on the moulding but it seems to hold its shape okay.

I got it for my flash, perfect for that but wouldn't put my slr on it.

I bought one and its pretty solid. Quick release, flexible and grippy rubber legs. No problems holding camera with a 300mm lens. I bought it mainly for the compact on holidays etc though.

ideal for remote flash.... probably..

Got two today, I'm surprised at the size and quality of them.

7DayShop has something that looks very similar for just £4.99.
Can't comment on the quality because I don't have one, but it looks comparable to the Aldi one and is probably OK for lightweight cameras / flashes etc

The Aldi version is about 4 times the size of the 7 day shop version & is actualy quite solid, That is a 12 inch steel rule in the image for scale

Is the smaller one there a gorilla pod, is it the 7day shop version? if it is, I always thought they would be bigger than that...

The Aldi one defiantly look more manly in it's size  is it much heavier though?

The smaller one is a gorilla pod clone from 7 day shop. I wouldn't trust it to support a camera on anything but a flat & level surface & only use if for supporting small reflectors & the like. The Aldi is in a different league to be honest & holds a G1/Gf1 quite well.

I'm actually considering getting one now, as everyone seems to be saying they're good, and strong. For those who have one, do you think it would hold a Nikon D40x with Nikon 70-300mm lens on it? Would probably only ever use it on (nearly) flat surfaces.

Its fine with my 550d/70-300

Just got one of these today thinking it might be a walkaround replacement for my redsnapper which is way too heavy for my small build (it is very stable however).

I don't have the gorillapod but I'm not too impressed by the build quality of these. Its Tevion branded and while the legs are okay, the neck and screw in part leaves a lot to be desired. The tiny neck ball seems glued to the feet section and it looks like it'll snap off anytime.

It holds my D5000 + 35mm f1.8 rather well but it'll wobble during shutter action so that was quite disappointing as I probably won't get any good long exposures using it. But oh well, its 9 quid and it'll probably make a good flash stand.

It looks quite decent for the money, have to check out my ALDI tomorrow to see if there are any left.
