I'm looking at small tripods with flexible legs, like the one that you can wrao around branches etc.

Are there any suggestions for 'better' brands? I've seen a few on eBay, but obviously not sure of the quality.

Thanks is advance

I thought that was the name.

SLR version for up to 3kg (should be enough to use with 70-300L) is £31.99 at John Lewis. Perfect.

Thanks chaps

Another use for a gorillapod is as an accessory to a monopod. Wrap one leg round the monopod, and use the other two to stabilise the monopod by leaning against a wall, tree, or whatever.

Good idea that!
Cagey, agreed regarding the weight, mine used like a tabletop tripod won't easily hold my d750 and 24-70 despite that combination being less than the gorillapod's stated weight limit. I find that it droops. It's fine if you wrap the legs around something, just not so much used freestanding

Yup, the SLR-Zoom is great when wrapped around something but less useful as a freestanding support. Got so many other supports that I haven't tried a Focus but it certainly looks more sturdy!
