Yes
A week or so back at a wedding I noticed one of my 2 flashes wasn't on autozoom (it stopped making the buzzing noise) Still worked fine, but being cautious I switched to the back-uo and carried on.
Fast forward to sorting out the gear after and it was "stuck" in wide angle mode. Now this isn't a big issue as I normally use a sofens type diffuser anyway, and I use a snoot if I want a pool of light.
Tried sorting it and gave up and ordered a new one. That came today, swopped over the diffuser and the so and so bounce card had come out slightly. Dohhhh! I should have thought of checking that. Oh well I was a good excuse to get yet another flashgun......

Dont tell me you just bought a flashgun without posting here and having a three day discussion about the pro's and cons of each type for that camera...................................I dont know. :)

Which one did you get?

Been there done that etc! :woot:

Nope...never done that, especially right in the middle of an event...nope

I think there are a number of people here (myself included) who could have advised you to check that based on having hit the same problem in the past and wasted far to long trying to figure it out

A friend of mine took the view that flashguns were the ultimate proof of the existence of a supreme deity.

His reasoning was that nothing, which could trip you up so successfully, could possibly have been invented by anyone less practiced in the causation of chaos than Lucifer. If you accepted the existence of the Old 'Un then you had to accept that only the supreme being could have created the supreme evil one.

I'm sure there are many holes that could be poked in this theory. However, it does provide one explanation of how something that should be too simple to fail can go wrong in so many unexpected ways! :wideyed:

******* flashguns! is that a new model ?

Seems like you are having a few problems lately. Possibly memory card issue and now flash gun problem! These things come in threes.

Shhhhhh,.... ;) On the plus side something failing means shiny new kit syndrome...

The annoying thing is I know it's one of the casues. I just didnt check on the wedding because it's not the place to be mucking about, so I just bunged a spare flash on and carried on. Then playing with it I'd forgotten to check and pull off the sofens diffuser thing,

My Nikon SB-400 refuses to work, shows the red light but does not fire even though I have tested it on 3 cameras and the flash ready light shows on the cameras.... Considering the Godox iT32 as a replacement (just a shame there is no Pentax option for the X5)... Now in sales thread...

My old Pentax AF500FTZ sometimes refuses to come to life, so tested that. Thankfully it still works and rocks on the Z-1p
