I am new to flashguns and know nothing about them but am looking to buy one and get into flash photography, now im on a low budget at the mo and just wondered if anyone can tell me if the METZ Mecablitz 36 AF-4C Flashgun will be ok as a starter?

Thanks in advance

Kaz

Hi,

I don't know that Metz.
If you feel comfortable with a manual flash, I recommend the Yongnuo 560 II. It's a great flashgun!
There are also other Yongnuo models you can check, like the 565 and 568 (these are TTL flashes).

Thanks for your reply I will be sure to check these flashes out
Thanks again

Thanks Tony will look into your suggestion aswell.
Is a TTL better than just a manual?

The answer to that will depend upon who you ask

I think you learn more about flash if you learn how to use it manually whereas others will suggest that it is foolish not to use modern technology if it is available.

Both points of view are correct for different reasons.

If you want to master flash technique and understand what is happening, start off with manual. If you just want something which will work and give good results straight away, then you want TTL.

Thanks Steve i think id like a TTL for now as ive been asked to do some promo shoots for a few people so could do with a flash that would do everything for me :) as i dont really have alot of time to sit and learn how to use one manually.
i am looking at the Yongnuo YN465 at the mo as im on abit of a tight budget

Can anyone tell me what a Yongnuo YN465 flashgun is like please?
