Been playing around with off-camera flash lately, i have 2x HVL-42 flashguns with lightstands and 1x reversible umbrella and have been contemplating getting a soft box as my 2nd light modifier and have seen these http://www.viewfinderphotography.co...Quick-Easy-Assemble-Octagon-Softbox-70cm.html and wondered if somebody could give my an experienced opinion if they are any good compared to the standard square type or would i be better going with the latter. Alternatively i have looked at the hotshoe to S fit adapters that Lencarta do and maybe going that route? ...Thanks in advance.

Carl.

Square to Octa difference is basically down to taste, insofar as the catchlights are concerned. I use an octa an awful lot, although it's mated to a safari head. I have a number of square boxes for speedlights and I've not really "wished" for an octa to use in that sort of scenario, although you tend to use what you have and if I possibly had an octa of that size for use with a speedlight, I may well use it I suppose.
There's an 80cm folding softbox specifically for speedlights that comes up on the flea bay regularly, although watch out for import duty and tax if using an overseas seller.

I suppose all the rambling above basically means it's down to personal taste, and my taste suits my needs and uses, but may not necessarily suit you.

Not much help really.

Cheers Michael think I might just go for the octa from viewfinder for now and see what results I get.
