Yes
Not necessarily to be bought right now, but I wonder if anyone can recommend some pocket-friendly kit that is functional for a beginner or semi-pro and what won't break the bank...

I'm looking at slowly building my kit up, main focus is on Macro and Wildlife (birds) - plus a good helping of anything scenic.....waterfalls, mountains, coastlines etc. Pretty much anything to do with nature. Kinda interested in astro-shots too, was testing new lens (sigma 150-500mm) and tried to see about a shot of the moon...pleasantly surprised at how it went!

I'm also after some info on macro setup... How to get the super-macro shots of details... Think bug-eyes type of closeness. I have a Sigma 105mm Macro but want to go closer again (bet its more user error that I can't).

I've looked at the sigma 2x teleconverter as one option but also keep seeing things about reversing a prime lens e.g Nikon 50mm to give that bit extra.

BTW... Can you use that teleconverter on the 'Bigma' at night...say for moon shot? Or is it too dark?

Ok, have looked at this possibly for main flashgun on Amazon.... Anyone know of this brand? Ideally looking for one under £100 if possible, no more than £150 at the absolute max but I really need it under the £100 mark:

Meike MK-910 Wireless i-TTL Multiple sycn Speedlite/Flashgun For Nikon

Also, is this ringflash much good?
Mcoplus - Skyblue MK-14EXT Macro TTL ring flash for NIKON i-TTL with LED AF assist lamp

Any recommendations...again, hopefully under £100...

Hi there. I've got the Meike MK-910 and it's pretty good. First proper flash so I'm still getting used to it and everything it can do. I ordered mine from Amazon and it took about 2 weeks to come and was about £76 I think. Make sure you get a few sets of rechargeable batteries though as it's pretty harsh on them with it being a big unit with alot of power. I use it with the built in CLS on my camera so i can use it off camera and it seemingly works flawlessly although I'm going to pick up a set of the Yongnuo 622n's and a TX controller when I get paid so I don't have to keep going into the menu to alter the settings.

No experience of the ring flash mate, sorry.

Thanks (y) Good to know someone definitely knows it is decent... I also had a look at this one but not sure how well it compares...(I have about 2% tech knowledge out of 100%)...

Not sure about the flash you highlight

A flash needed for a macro set up is either specialised or a modified "normal" flash to diffuse the beam so low power of a few flash guns can be the solution - look in the macro section lots of advice there

The moon is very bright - you need to play with your settings to get the correct exposure - take a few test shots at say f8 and see what the best exposure is

Not sure if a TC is effective for the Bigma, but there must be a compatibility chart on the Sigma site as Sigma make TC …… you will certainly lose AF at higher fvalues

However, generally TC's are not good with zoom lenses

I'm sure i've seen the TC is compatible with the Bigma.... but if it's not much good anyway .... still might get it for the 105mm Macro lens though.

Flash wise, main flashgun.... i've gone bananas and got the Meike ..... it looks pretty good, has good reviews and also a rec on here from you David.... so have chanced it. The rest will have to wait another month .... perhaps next payday i'll get a ringflash. I'm also on the lookout for a remote that can be wireless or corded and that will allow me to mount a flash on top... have looked at a Hahnel Combi TF Wireless Remote and Trigger as a possible one.... :)
