Yes
I am looking at buying a flash, can't afford a Canon, are these yongnuo flash
worth the money?

I read different reports, some say they do work TTL and others say they do not.
being inexperienced (never used one) do I really need TTL, i'm going to a christening soon, I guess the pop up on a 1000d will not give enough light??

advice please peoples.

I know matt (MWHCVT) has recently bought one so he may be able to offer some sound advice, although it was purchased to be used off camera mainly for strobist work.
Have a look at the nissins and metz, they make sound flashguns

Yes, they are. Yongnuo are excellent value for money!

Regarding TTL, YN568 has it, like some others, and it is a great flash.
YN560 II or III don't, but they are a bit cheaper.

TTL will make all the calculations for you, so the flash fires with the correct power to create a good-to-excellent exposure.
Manual requires a bit more learning but, once you know what you want and how to do it, it gives you more consistency and maybe even better results.

I'd buy the YN568. You can always use it in manual mode. ;)
