The SB 700 is a great flash and easy to attach. Hopefully you'll get that in your stocking :)

It really depends on how generous the present is :D

The SB-700 is great if if it's a lot of money, but if we're talking under £100 then the best (read, safest) bet is a Jessops 360AFD.

Jser - what kind of a setup are you using there? Some kind of home made ring flash?

HOME MADE !! :gag:

No it was taken with a Metz 45 CL4 digital with a Quantum battery 2, and a 60D and Sigma 120-400 at 120mm

I have two daily use setups

I dont use ringflasg I prefer a ringflash/light LEDs are better £30

Totally depends o what you want to achieve...

...but a good place to start is the SB700 if you want top-end (£250. There is the more expensive SB900 but that is being replaced by the SB910, which is probably overkill.

The next option I'd consider would be a SB600; older design but a fantastic flashgun for decent money (£180) and will work fully automated with your camera.

The Jessops 360 flash is a good buy and the 'budget' option for many people who just want better functionality than the really cheap guns.

Jeremy, have seen this pic a few times - has got to be the most hardcore set-up I've seen for ages. Looks like he photographic version of a Barrett .50 cal

Out of interest, why do you use the bounce cards and how much of an effect do they have on overall power?

Also look at the Nissin di866 MARK 2. I emphasise mark 2 due to the improvements. These are very good flashes at a reasonable price (£187 on Amazon) and have received some excellent reviews.

Awesome. Thanks.

Presumably you change the angle of the lower flashguns when actually using it?

The colour LCD display is both a boon and really annoying on the Nissin. Every time I change settings, the display has to wake up first.

The Mouse is taken hand held with just a hammerhead,

I use the larger setup when shooting at distance and the heads at different angles give a good illumination.

The bummer is that as with all "new" guns, they go to sleep, so you have to remember to shoot one pic every eight minutes or you end up going over to wake them, whoever thought that was a good idea needs shooting.

Sorry for the delay, in reply my son was run over.

The probounce are great, for £12 on ebay can't be beaten, they often come with silver and gold inserts for warm/cool effects.

Hardly notice any differenge in power but I use them as they are 100% better then a ceiling indoors where you DO lose a stop or so.

Also when out, I use the two guns on the Metz brackets on trees, fences or gates even car window.

Jeez Jeremy....i do hope he is ok

please keep us up to date

It was amazing, he was hit 100yds from a police station, bounced off the bonnet his elbow went through the windscreen and he broke the passengers door mirror off whan he went down (he's 18).

More amazing it was seen by an Off duty PC going in AND an off duty nurse.

Have a great shot from the nurse of him in an ambulance with neck brace, but he is alive, thats all that matters to this single dad.

Thanks
