being a complete novice with flash, I have edited a template for my badminton club using flash 5, so I publish the site using html and flash settings into a folder and then upload the whole lot to my ftp server...but I cannot get the site to work.....does anyone know what files or folders I need to upload in order to get the thing to work?

any advice would be appreciated.
 
I suppose the .swf fies and something to call them, like an html index page?

the main page you want to show on visiting the site, rename that one index.html
 
still didnt work, I dont know if I am uploading the correct files or if I am not getting the link to my ftp correct:shake: ..but my other sites seem to work ok.
 
If you've uploaded your files, do you have a link to the site, so we can take a look? One of us should be able to look at the filenames and what the code is calling making sure theyre all correct :)
 
thanks marcel, I have managed to get it running( thanks to you guys), however, it is very small in my browser and when I publish the site any larger than 400x300 it displays with only part of the site being displayed in my browser,perhaps it will appear correctly when it is on my ftp server...also I am struggling to insert hyperlinks...

It actually works but it's tiny! (400x300?) so small I can hardly see most of it. Only the first page has the fancy moving hexagonal graphics, all the others have just plain text links.

I think the main problem there is that the flash movie itself has not been made properly, it's not that the files are wrong.
 
I know that the moving graphics are only on the front page, but that is how the template was and given my skill level, it is going to stay like that..lol:)
I am going to try and insert a photo gallery and make it bigger, then I would be more than happy, Oh and after I have managed to put some hyperlinks into it.
 
I once made a flash website using Swish. Swish seemed to be a lot easier to use for me.

Sorry, flash websites in general don't appeal to me. Crap for search engines, crap for accessibility, crap sounds.. etc. :bang:

The navigation could do with some work, it's not very intuitive. You could cut down on button clicks in a few places too. The less buttons a user has to press to get to their destination the better.

Off topic I know, just my two pennies.

I could also hire a proffesional, who would do a proffesional job....using flash movies aint just like editing in dreamweaver and is totally new to me but I muddled through it by myself and I LIKE IT!!:'( :baby: :) :lol:

but seriously..I have learnt some stuff and am soon going to make the Flash website to end all Flash websites, I have just got to find the right template..Doh:bonk:
 
Sorry. No offence intended. It's just a subject that i'm quite picky about.

Personally, I wouldn't have a clue where to start with flash. So well done in that respect. :D

No offence taken, honestly:) .. this is my first and last excursion into flash, hell, it eats up every spare minute of time and my family cannot believe that I have forgone the deep joy that is Judge judy for two days in a row and I miss her:lol:
