I was recently a guest at a wedding where I saw the photographer had a white portable umbrella style attachment for his flash, the results were really quite good for a very dark stairwell and lit the area and the bride and groom very well. I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for one of these, I have a Canon 580EX ii flash, can I use one of these with my existing flash? Cheers very much.

HI, I use the Velbon Umbrella Clamp UC-6. The Umberella and the clamp fold up small enough to fit in my camera bag. It can be hand held or cliped onto a stand. It holds two speedlites. So far had some good result my only complaint is that it could be stronger.

£50+??

I reckon you could make something almost identical for about a tenner, including the umbrella....

Looks like the kind of thing I'm after, thanks for the time and answers guys, I'm off down the photographic shop this weekend now :)

Yeah, £50 seems stupid for an effect that could probably be done just as well with a cheap normal rain umbrella (the one that comes with the umbrella clamp just looks like a normal umbrella anyway) and a bulldog clip. Perhaps a bit of ducktape too.

A photographic brolly can be bought for about a fiver,a cheap mount about the same. If you want to be "flash" (excuse the double pun) and blow the budget then a Calumet minipod for a tenner makes a great handle...

I ordered a shoot thrugh brolly & flash mount from some fleaby seller in china or could be HK for £9.99 inc delivery i have no idea what the quality is like (but it had to be worh a punt for £9.99)as its waiting for me at home in cornwall and i'm working in Belfast , but i will post a review when i get home.
