What are the options for flash triggers with pass through and are there any with ETTL?

I'm looking at the same and had similar questions.

I think pocket wizards do TTL but are sooo expensive
Phottix Stratto Mk 1 (calumet I'm told do an own brand) & Stratto mkII. Younang (spelling)
They will do Canon versions

Phil Steele has a website with some reviews on wireless flash triggers

I think I've almost decided on:
a) a secondand SU800 (nikon) flash controller so I have flashes on stands and not on camera for TTL with my nikon flashes for indoor work
b) Stratto MK 1 (maybe II) wireless controllers for external work

Have a look at the new kid on the block.......

Not strictly pass through because the camera communicates with the trigger which then communicates with the flash on camera.

The lack of ETTL pass through with the Phottix Odin is irritating. In fact never mind ETTL it's just irritating when rushing around shooting at a wedding that I have to remove the Odin transmitter & replace it with my 580EXII in order to use a flash on camera. I have just ordered some of the YN-622C units which should do the job & are cheaper than the Phottix Odin as each interchangeable transceiver is about £65 while the Odin transmitter plus one receiver is about £265 with additional receivers about £99.

That's a shame......not available for Nikon!

Nigel - At that price you are nearly at the same for a set of pocket wizards which will give you TTL - If I had £365 to spend then I would probably save & wait / push for PW's
The Phottix Odin setup is nicer than the Pocket Wizards. There is a nice big screen & it's very straightforward to remotely change flash power etc By all accounts the Phottix Odin is also far more reliable & consistent than PWs.

If the YN-622Cs work as advertised they will be a cheap & cheerful alternative.

Been using 4 of the YN-622's for a couple of weeks now and had no problems.

what flashes do you have and have you tried them with strobes yet...... (I know they do not come supplied with a cable but wondered if you got some cables too)

Used successfully with Canon 580EXII, 430EXII and Yongnuo 565.
I also have an older Sigma 500DG Super which while it triggers it I cannot make manual remote adjustments so haven't bothered with it.
Sold my studio lights a few weeks back so haven't tried with those. I did try using a couple of Yongnuo 560's connected via pc cable just to see if I could get a faster sync speed but wasn't having any luck and didn't persevere because I've got true HSS on the Canon flashes.

My real reason for getting them was for remote manual control which will only work on the EXII flashes and the Yongnuo 565 but I've been getting lazy and using ETTL more than I thought.

Ta Colin, very useful.....the geeks over at PoTN drive me nuts with their maths explanations about lighting triggers.

lol, I ordered them as soon as they were available and I'm glad I did, if I had waited and read everything since then I would be baffled.

If you or anyone is considering ordering them and wants to check any functions or anything give me a shout and i'll do my best to try anything out as requested.

Here's another vote for the Yongnuo YN-622 triggers. They are simple straightforward & just work. The price is unbeatable. They are cheaper than the Phottix Strato units which don't have ETTL. I have four & shall be ordering a couple more.

Can you link to where you got them and what camera you have, because some of the earlier ones won't work with 1d series and need the supplier to make sure you get the correct version.

How long till you got your order?

Many thanks.

EDIT; I don't think they do them any more

I posted a link to a supplier but having checked it I don't think they sell them any more. :)

A new kid on the block .......Phottix have just announced some ETTL triggers

http://journal.phottix.com/company-news/phottix-strato-ttl-trigger-announced-photokina/
That looks like a cut-down Odin without the nice big LCD screen. It has the same separate transmitter & receiver arrangement as the Odin & there is no hot shoe on the transmitter so never mind no pass through of ETTL there isn't even a way of mounting a Flash on the camera when using one of these new Phottix triggers.
