Flash Trigger for D3100 + SB600?

I have a d3100 and a sb600. I want to use the flash off camera and I understand the d3100 doesnt have a commander to trigger the flash. I am looking for some advice and knowledge on the best way to get around this and suggestions? I dont have loads of spare cash as I've just spent out on the flash itself.
I was looking at a cheap yongnuo to trigger off the sb600...if thats possible?

the yongnuo will be great if you are happy with manualy setting the flash exposure. if you want TTL you might want to concider a long TTL cord.

thanks fo your reply Stuart. I think TTL would be best at the moment as I'm not confident enough to manualy set the flash. Can you recommend any radio triggers that are reliable but wont break the back. The pocketwizard is out of my price range

I'd need the camera flash to trigger this though wont I? Ideally looking for a radio trigger so theres only one flash going off. Saying that I might still get this as it will come in handy...cheers
 
can anyone recommend a radio trigger that would work for a Nikon D3100 setting off a sb600 and a yongnou

The only TTL radio wireless flash system is the Pocket wizard flex Mini and Maxi and you are not going to like the price of them!

I use a SU-800 and it works 95% of the time of me. (Kerso on here does them at a very good price)

If you want cheaper then that you have to make the choice of shooting using a TTL cable or using the cheap triggers and shooting on manual.

Hi Stuart.
So if I bought a cheap wireless trigger it would set off both the sb600 and yongnou? All I would have to do is manually play with the settings?
I like the sound of the ttl cable but they look quite short so would have to be close to the camera.

What is it you want to shoot? If you want to do small studio work, the manual triggers are pretty easy to get your head round once you know the basics. If you want off camera flash with ttl on the fly, then a ttl cord is the way forward.
