I could do with some advice please folks.

Are sync cables all the same or do I need a specific type for the 'cord?

Thanks

A standard sync cable should work... However, Rollei had a locking version too. My Rolleicord has a little release lever next to it. Strangely, my Rolleiflex doesn't.

I direct my Right Honourable Friend to the first pic on page 170 of the New Toy thread :)
The x sync is in the middle of the self timer.

Yes. It has the sync socket but the switch for electronic/bulb flash/timer is around it rather than the locking release lever (I think).

According to the manual I found the lever around the sync socket is a locking lever.

The mighty google seems to think a normal sync cable will work ok.

I wasn't sure what a "normal" cable was, so I appreciate the clarification.

There were a few different versions, some without the X and V switch at the top and different x sync/ self timer arrangements.
I thought this one looked like a self timer.

Where is the self timer?

Good grief!
