I`m very new to all this malarky but have been bitten by the bug now. I`ve just bought a 2nd hand Canon 350d and will be looking for a budget flash. I`ll be using it to take pics of the inside of houses, apartments and sometimes warehouse units. I would also be using it for general piccy taking when it`s needed. I need some recomendations if possible. Probably below £100.
Thanks in advance.

Just a thought, but would a tripod be a better way to spend the money..?
Sounds like your subjects won't be moving much, and to light apartments or warehouses with one flash might not be too easy..

Not sure if a flash unit will provide enough light to eliminate these especially the warehouse unit. If you are just photographing the building itself with no people then it might be worth using a tripod and no flash.

At that price I'd go for the Sigma EF-500 DG ST which offers ETTL2, and tilt/swivel head. (Link)

Mine cost me about £100 from a dealer on the Tottenham Court Road.

I agree with Steve. You would find it difficult to light up a warehouse with a small to medium flash............or even a big one at that!

A tripod would mean you could have a longer exposure to catch all the available light without anything moving in the shot.

Steve and Janice a right. To light large areas such as a warehouse would require multiple light sources to get an even coverage. Often a long exposure on a tripod yields a very acceptable result and gives the shot " Atmosphere". The same could be said of apartments, but that depends on the natural light available. You could be better off with a reasonable tripod rather than a flash.

I'd say a good lens (ie. big max aperture), slightly higher ISO and a tripod would be better than a flash for that kind of photography.

Thanks for all the replys, lots of good advice which I will take, so looks like I`ll be having a tripod too.
Thanks.

Or if your using a tripod, a smaller aperture to maximise DOF and a low ISO :)

Just reading your post again, my Mrs works for an estate agent and they have a 400D but were having problems with dark pictures of large rooms.

They borrowed my flashgun for a couple of days and they then went and bought one. Warehouses may be a problem, but then do you really need to show a photo of a warehouse, inside they all look pretty similar.

For £120 you could get the flashgun AND a tripod from Jessops....

Cheers Jelster, for my sins I am an estate agent (said as if I was at an AA meeting). I will be buying a flash and a tripod, the pics I`ll be taking of warehouses is more for personal than work and would be just sections of the interior.

They have since bought a Sigma 12-24mm to help with the smaller rooms as well.
