Hey,

(I use Nikon)

I'm about to get into my flash photography for location shots, without looking into it im planning on grabbing an SB900 to start off with with a brolly and a trigger and eventually get another SB900 aswell..

What would be the essential kit for this?
-2 flash guns
-2 brollys/ softboxes
-2 tripods (for the flashes)
- remote and flashes

Also going to grab a Jessops flashgun (as i work there)

This is just because i've seen photographers use this 'sort' of setup, I actually have no idea about flash at all...

So ive been trying to find setup tutorials and stuff on the internet..

I want to be a strobie geek :geek:aha

One light is a good starting point. It's easier to learn with one and the start playing with multiple flash as you start to understand lighting ratios and just what you can do with al that light.

I use a mixture of tripods and lightstands; tripods for rough ground, lightstands when i need more heights (but they need weighting down more). I use the Konig ones off fleabay - £40 and they last well. Just fit an AS-19 type foot to the head for bare flash, or use a thread adaptor so you can attach a brolly head or speedring.

What is it you want to photograph using flashes? fashion? Sport? Editorial? Portraits? You need to work out hat you want to achieve and then you can start to look at the actual set-up that'll suit you. :)
