I`m looking to possibly learn the use of flash to get a specific look when shooting models outside, is there any websites that explain the techniques and settings to use.

Seen some photoshoot of a model and the guy was shooting a nikon sb-600 through an umbrella, off camera, and his pictures looked well sweet and i`d like to try and achieve this but i know nothing about flash and have always shy`d away from it.

So is it a simple case of what you need is example: Camera, nice flashgun, umbrella and wireless triggers or is it more complex than that?

You have a CLS capable camera, so you just need an sb600/800/900, a stand (£10 from amazon/7dayshop), an umbrella adaptor and umbrella from flash in the pan, and if you want to splash the cash, a softbox from flash in the pan.

If you're shooting further away from the flash, or for better reliability especially when out of sight, you can get radio triggers for the sb600 from flash in the pan too :)

Great equipment does not make a great photographer. yes that's all you would need but then learning how to use it is another story!
