Flash for Canon 6d

It depends how powerful a flash you need really, plus how much you have to spend? I try to avoid using flash whenever I can, but went for the 'mid-range' Canon Speedlight 430EX II to go with my 6d. I find this works well with the camera and gives nice illumination. I checked out prices at the time and Currys were one of the cheapest, which had the added advantage that I could drive to the nearest branch that had one in stock and have a look at it before I parted with my money. :)

Apparently, the flash I got has now been superseded by the 430EX III, which looks even nicer from the back and seems to have some additional functions! I've not tried this later model, so perhaps someone else can say if it works well? Edit: Plenty of reviews to read on Amazon UK.

As usual, shop around for the price that makes the most sense to you - maybe it'll be cheaper in the post-Xmas sales too? Best of luck choosing a suitable flash.

I'm using a Godox v850. It's well specced, cheap, has a nice removable high power battery pack and does what I need. It's been upgraded now but mine works well so it's staying put. To my surprise I've dropped it, kicked it and generally abused it and it still works. Now for the price that was almost unbelievable.

Ive used most of canons top end flashes, last ones I used was the 600 EX-RT now replaced by the mkII

I now show Yongnuo flashes, their YN600EX-RT TTL is the same style and very similar to the 600EX-RT canon, I think its a little taller, hardly any difference at all, much cheapness and very very good to use, my only gripe is the manual is a bit crappy, but once you learn the basics its amazing.

Thankyou ill look it up now

Amazon, right now I'd recommend you buy a Godox with a trigger, if you're experimenting with lighting, it's the most complete system available, the same trigger will fire flashguns, portable studio and mains studio heads.

This starter kit is more expensive than the equivalent Yongnuo, but cheaper than Canon and has its own LiIon battery which saves you getting your own rechargeable S and smart charger (a saving of both cash and hassle)
